All the evidence points that Ruben Amorim, despite not having many years of experience, is ready to become Manchester United’s manager. The Portuguese coach is known for his flexible style of play, often opting to set up with a three-back or a five-back formation instead of going with the traditional four defenders. While this style of play is not something seen regularly at Old Trafford, a burst of fresh air and new outlooks and tactics may be the best possible solution for Manchester United right now.
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, was also full of praise for the up and coming manager. He said:
“All I can talk about is the experience of playing twice against Rúben’s Sporting Lisbon team and the (performance) was really good. I spoke with Matheus Nunes, and he was his player, and he speaks highly about him. And look this season, he is unbeaten and winning all the games in the Portuguese League and the Champions League, the same points as us.”
Manuel Ugarte, one of Manchester United’s signing this summer, excelled under Ruben Amorim at Sporting. He has not had the best of starts to his Manchester United career but will hope he can turn it around especially with the arrival of his old coach Amorim. All Manchester United fans across the globe are hoping that the Portuguese manager ends up being the ‘chosen one’ and helps the club get out of the huge hole that they have kept digging themselves into since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
