Liverpool Will Join Real Madrid in UCL Final

This season of the UEFA Champions League has proved to be as exciting as it always is, providing entertainment to football fans from around the world. We saw Roma making a fantastic comeback to beat the might FC Barcelona and proceed to the semi-final of the 2017/18 Champions League. They almost repeated the achievement against Liverpool last night.

The 1st leg of the semi-final between these two saw Liverpool taking a 5-0 lead, only for Roma to end on an attacking note and finish the game 5-2. Having scored 2 away goals, a 3-0 or 4-1 victory would’ve done it for them in the 2nd leg, and fans would’ve been optimistic after their comeback in the quarter final.

Liverpool took an early lead as Sadio Mane scored a goal, but James Milner’s own goal in the 15th minute brought the teams back to level at 1-1. A 52nd minute goal from Edin Džeko followed by an 86th minute goal and 94th minute penalty scored by Radja Nainggolan took Roma up 4-2 but it wasn’t enough as the final whistle was blown.

The aggregate score at the end of both legs was 7-6 in Liverpool’s favour and they are all set to meet Real Madrid in the 2017/18 Champions League final, after Madrid beat Bayern 4-3 on aggregate. Roma lost and had to bow out of the tournament, but it was a very spirited performance by the team, and the home crowd cheered them on even though they didn’t qualify.

Jürgen Klopp now becomes the 4th Liverpool manager to lead the club to a Champions League final, with the previous three making the final a total of 7 times and each winning the title at least once. They are going to be up against Real Madrid, who are masters of the Champions League and we are going to be in for a very, very exciting final on 27th May!
