Latest ICC T20 Ranking Sees Mohammad Rizwan Claim Number 1 Spot

Pakistan star Mohammad Rizwan is now the No.1 batsmen in ICC Men’s Player T20I Rankings following his solid outings in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. The opener dethroned his fellow partner and team skipper Babar Azam at the top of the table in the lastest rankings  to be the no 1 T20I batter.

The 30-year-old achieved this feat following his exceptional performances in the continental competition at the 6-nation tournament. Rizwan has been a mainstay in the Pakistan national cricket team in their recent outings during the ongoing Asia Cup. After failing to score a 50 in the first game against the Men in Blue, the wicket keeper batter has gone on to record two back-to-back half centuries.

He played a key role with the bat scoring 78* and 71 respectively against Hong Kong and India and helped the team register consecutive victories. With 192 runs in 3 matches, Rizwan has toppled Babar Azam in the ICC T20I rankings with the Pak skipper going through a poor patch of run in Asia Cup so far.

The current skipper of Men in Green had a torrid time in the Asia Cup. He ended up scoring 10, 9, and 14 in the three games which resulted in a drop of 16 rating points that pushed him down to second place.

Rizwan on the other hand, was ranked second on the list behind his skipper before the tournament. The wicket keeper has now gone on to be the third Pakistan batsman to top the T20I rankings chart after Misbah-ul-Haq and Babar Aazm. Babar had been occupying the top spot of the T20I batting charts for 1155 days in his career.

ndia’s Suryakumar Yadav has dropped down to the fourth spot after he failed to get going in his last two games. The middle order batter was earlier ranked second in the ICC rankings and came very close to claim the top spot during the recent tour to the West Indies.

The 31 year old’s drop of form sees Proteas’ star Aiden Markram overtake the Indian batter to claim the third spot with 792 rating points against his name. England opener Dawid Malan finds himself sandwiched at the fifth position between Surayakymar Yadav and Aaron Finch with the Australian slotting at the sixth place in the ICC rankings.
