Lanka T10 – All You Need To Know

The Lanka T10 is an upcoming T10 cricket league in Sri Lanka that will be launched and owned by T Ten Sports Management. It is a league that is organised by Sri Lanka Cricket in partnership with the Abu Dhabi T10 league and is planned to start in December 2024. This is the inaugural edition of the Lanka T10 league, and Sri Lanka will hope that this league will blossom into something similar to the Indian Premier League (IPL) with huge future prospects. When Will Lanka T10 Start?

The inaugural edition of the Lanka T10 league will take place between 12th and 22nd December 2024. The tournament was originally set to start in 2023, but it was delayed and rescheduled. This new window provides an optimum window for the league to attract viewers and become a successful global league.

Which Teams Will Be Participating?

Six franchises will be participating in the inaugural edition of the Lanka T10. These six teams are Colombo Strikers, Galle Marvels, Jaffna Titans, Kandy Bolts, Hambantota Bangla Tigers, and Negombo Braves. These six franchises will compete against each other to become the first champions of the Lanka T10 league. These cities have been chosen carefully, and Sri Lanka Cricket has spoken about selecting each of these cities. The following was said:

• Colombo: As the capital of the country, Colombo boasts state-of-the-art facilities and historic grounds. This city has nurtured many of the nation’s cricketing legends and serves as a powerhouse for talent development, hosting the majority of Sri Lanka’s first-class cricket clubs.
• Jaffna: Located in the northern region, Jaffna is becoming an emerging cricketing hub characterised by its rich cultural diversity. Increasingly, schools in the area are adopting the sport, establishing Jaffna as a centre of excellence where promising young talent is on the rise.
• Galle: Galle uniquely blends history with sport. It is home to the renowned Galle International Cricket Stadium, which is framed by the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort. This southern coastal city often gains recognition as a premier cricketing destination owing to its historical significance and vibrant cricketing culture.

• Kandy: Known for its cultural richness and scenic beauty, Kandy is the home of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The city has a distinguished history of producing top players who have represented Sri Lanka on the international stage.

When Is The Lanka T10 Draft?

One of the most exciting aspects of the Lanka T10 League is the player draft. Scheduled to take place on 10th November 2024, this event will bring together team owners and managers to select players from a pool that includes both domestic and international talent. The draft process will be meticulously structured to ensure a balanced distribution of players among the teams. Each team will have a squad of a maximum of 17 players and a minimum of 15 players, including seven international players.

The selection will showcase some of the best talent from around the globe. Teams will have the opportunity to bid for star players, with various strategies in place to secure both big names and promising newcomers. Categories for players will include local Sri Lankan legends, rising stars, and established international cricketers who can bring experience and flair to the teams. Where Will The Lanka 10 League Be Played?

The inaugural edition of the Lanka T10 Super League will be played in the iconic hill capital of Kandy. From 12th December to 22nd, all the games from the T10 League will be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in December in Kandy. While it may be advantageous to the team from the city of Kandy, it makes sense to play games in just one venue as it is a very short tournament and keeping multiple venues would not make sense.
