Karun Nair was purchased by the Kings XI Punjab this time, who paid a massive ₹5.6 Crore to sign the talented Indian star. While he started out well for the Kings XI Punjab and made 13 appearances for them in the 2018 season, he fell out of the pecking order during the next few years. Nair continued to play for Punjab but ended up playing just one game in 2019 and four games in the 2020 seasons of the Indian Premier League. This ended up being his last IPL contract for quite a while, as he was released by the Kings XI Punjab ahead of the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League.
