Kane Williamson has rejoined his New Zealand teammates ahead of their last Test match against England. His return will be a big boost to the Kiwis who are eager to win a red ball clash during their ongoing tour. The New Zealand captain had tested positive for COVID-19 on the eve of the second Test match at Trent Bridge, which forced him to withdraw from the team. However, he is now deemed to remain available after completing his five-day stay in isolation.
New Zealand cricket’s official twitter account shared the news about the Black Caps’ skipper while speaking about his availability for the 3rd Test match. Williamson is expected to regain full fitness after suffering from COVID-19 and will likely be a part of the starting XI in Leeds.

Williamson’s comeback to the team will be a big boost for the tourists with New Zealand heading into the clash following poor outings in the last few games. The Black Caps have already lost the series after failing to win the first two Test matches. England currently leads the series with a 2-0 margin and will be aiming to complete a white wash against NZ, on the other hand, will be eager pick up a win at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds.

Despite Williamson’s return, the Black Caps will not be at full strength for the last Test. Michael Bracewell will miss out on featuring in the game after making his debut at Trent Bridge with the all-rounder contracting the COVID-19. Bracewell will be joined by Chris Donaldson and Vijay Vallabh with the NZ team members also testing positive for COVID-19. All three members of the NZ team are set to undergo a five-day isolation phase, and will not be able to travel for the final Test match.
Kyle Jamieson has also ruled out of the series due to injury. Jamieson’s replacement, Blair Tickner is set to join the Kiwis’ squad and could get a chance to feature the third Test match at Leeds. Dane Cleaver will also be a part of the NZ camp for the Headingley Test acting as a substitute to Cam Fletcher. The wicketkeeper suffered a grade-two right hamstring strain and is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
