England star Jonny Bairstow has been voted as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June 2022. The 32-year-old got the better of fellow countrymen Joe Root and New Zealand star Daryl Mitchell to walk away with the prestigious award.

Bairstow has been on a tremendous run with the English batter playing some of his best cricket right now. He has been in a purple patch of form scoring centuries in back-to-back matches during the recently concluded Test series for the Three Lions.
The 32-year-old produced one of his best innings on the final day of the second Test in Nottingham. He went on to score a match-winning innings, scoring 136 and helped the Three Lions chase down a massive target of 299. Bairstow’s knock was the second-fastest century an Englishman has ever scored in Test cricket. Later, the English star scored 162 and 71* at Leeds as England registered a massive win.

The former English wicketkeeper continued to build on his good form and struck back-to-back centuries in the rescheduled Test match against India. His innings in Birmingham saw him earn solid points and also make a massive jump on the ICC Men’s Test players rankings.
Bairstow is said to be thrilled on winning the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June 2022 award. He shared how the last five weeks have been incredible for the national team. The 32-year-old went on to speak on his personal performances in the last 4 matches. He also thanked fellow English teammates for being excellent in their departments.
ICC has quoted Jonny Bairstow saying, “I would like to thank the fans for voting for me as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month. It has been an incredible five weeks for England. It has been a positive start to our summer with four excellent wins against high-class opposition in New Zealand and India. “
The right-hander added, “We are enjoying our cricket as a team and playing with clarity and positivity. Even though I have scored four centuries in this period, I would like to acknowledge my teammates who have been excellent in every department and playing with immense confidence.”
Jonny Bairstow will be eager to replicate his Test match performances for England in the upcoming One Day Internationals. The 32-year-old has been called up for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India and is all set to feature for the Three Lions.
