Jofra Archer Ruled Out Of IPL 2023, MI Announces Replacement

Mumbai Indians have suffered a major setback amid IPL 2023 with the team seeing England pacer Jofra Archer being ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The announcement comes on the brink of  MI’s must-win game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Jofra Archer is ruled out of the 2023 with an injury which saw the speedster struggle throughout the tournament for fitness. It led to the English pacer also missing five of Mumbai’s ten matches as well in IPL 2023 too. He played only five games for MI, managing to pocket two wickets while registering an economy rate of 9.50.

Mumbai Indians Announce Archer replacement

Mumbai Indians shared a post on social media to confirm Archer’s departure from the team and revealed how the the pacer’s recovery will now be monitored by English Cricket Board (ECB). The most successful team in IPL history has also named Archer’s replacement with English veteran Chris Jordan joining Mumbai’s camp last week.

Jofra Archer has missed a considerable amount matches in the past. He has not played regularly for England in the last two years due to injuries. It is also worth noting that his last appearance in Test cricket was in February 2021. Archer is rumoured to be a key part of England’s squad for the Ashes 2023. he is expected to play a key role for the  three lions for the test matches which kick off from 16th June in Birmingham.

Jordan, who replaces Archer first played in IPL in 2016. He has featured in 28 IPL matches so far and picked up 27 wickets in the competition. He has also played for England in 87 T20Is, scalping 96 wickets in T20 matches.
