Jay Shah is one of the most influential figures in Indian cricket administration and the son of Indian politician Amit Shah. Jay Shah is 35 years old and is currently the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India as well as the President of the Asian Cricket Council. He was appointed as the secretary of the BCCI on 24th October 2019 and as the President of the Asian Cricket Council on 30th January 2021. He has now been announced as the ICC chairman.
During his tenure, Shah has overseen several significant developments in Indian cricket. One of his notable achievements was successfully conducting the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Another big achievement is the introduction of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) under his leadership. This tournament provides a platform for female cricketers to compete at a high level.
India has blossomed even further under the tenure of Shah, with the men’s team making it to back-to-back finals. While they lost the 2023 Cricket World Cup final to Australia, they managed to clinch the T20 World Cup title in 2024 after defeating South Africa in the final. All in all, Jay Shah has been amazing as the BCCI secretary, and it will be very interesting to see what changes he can bring now that he has officially been appointed as the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman.
