According to an Indian Express report, Ravi Shastri has informed some members of BCCI that he plans to part with team India after 2021 T20 World Cup. Shastri’s contract will expire in November this year. BCCI is also looking for a new coaching staff for team India.

India has missed out on winning titles like 2015 World Cup, 2016 T20 World Cup, 2017 Champions Trophy, 2019 World Cup and 2021 World Test Championship under Shastri’s guidance. Since then, the demand for the Shastri’s resignation has increased. His tenure is till T20 World Cup 2021.

Indian cricket board is now hoping for a change. The board believes that a change is in order to push the team to the next level and become invincible in the world of cricket. According to the protocol, after the T20 World Cup, BCCI invites new head coach applications. Some board officials have indicated that Rahul Dravid will be appointed as the new head coach.

During Australia’s India tour in March 2017, there was a rift between captain Kohli and former coach Kumble. In fact, during the third test of the series, Kumble wanted to include Kuldeep Yadav in the team, but Kohli categorically refused. This controversy arose during the Dharamsala Test.

During the Dharamsala test, Kohli did not participate in the match due to an injury and Ajinkya Rahane was the captain of the team. Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav was given a chance in this match. Kohli opposed it and wanted to take Amit Mishra. This decision was made without notifying Kohli. Apart from this, Kohli was reportedly furious about former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni being included in the A-class.

During Shastri’s tenure, India lost to Pakistan in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final. In the 2019 World Cup semi-finals, New Zealand broke India’s dream by defeating them. After this, India also missed the title at the 2021 ICC World Test Championship.
