A recent Instagram post by Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi has taken the internet by a storm. In the post, the Gangs of Wasseypur actress shared the first look of her upcoming movie named ‘Double XL.’ But what caught everyone’s attention was Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan dancing hand-in-hand with the lead actress. The post hinted that the left-handed batsman is making his Bollywood debut with this film.

A few hours ago, T-Series, the of the film’s producers, released the official trailer on their YouTube channel. The movie revolves around two plus sized women, played by Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha, who face hurdles in fulfilling their dreams due to their weight.
The trailer starts with Dhawan walking up to Qureshi, who aspires to be a sports presenter, in a glitzy party to dance with the lady. Soon her joy of dancing with the cricket star is disrupted when her mother interrupts Qureshi’s dream.
Although it seems like Dhawan appears to do just a cameo in the film, it still marks his debut on the silver screen. Qureshi’s post yesterday created a lot of stir on the internet.
Several cricket fans started speculating that the Bollywood debut was the reason Dhawan was out of form. The comment section of the post was filled with comments blaming the movie for the stand-in captain of the Indian cricket team not being able to score enough runs.
Dhawan continues to be one of the best opening batsmen produced by India. He was in great form during the 2021 and 2022 editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he played for the Delhi Capitals. Despite those consistent performances, the Indian cricket board opted to try out young guns like Ishan Kishan instead of the veteran opener in T20Is.
BCCI considers Dhawan to be a one-format player, and is consistently seen giving him opportunities only in One Day Internationals (ODI). Citing the lack of chances, the New Delhi born cricketer is rumored to announce his retirement after the T20 World Cup in Australia from the shortest format of the game.
He is also likely to draw curtains in Test cricket to focus on his fitness with the ICC 50 over World Cup set to be played in India next year. On the personal front, Dhawan announced last year that was parting ways with his wife, a Melbourne-based Kick-boxer, Ayesha Mukherjee after eight years of marriage.
