The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League will take place between 22nd March and 25th May 2025, so get ready to make your team on Dream11. The Indian Premier League is one of the biggest tournaments in cricket, especially in India, where it takes place. IPL is celebrated almost like a festival in India, with all attention being paid to this league during this time. This is the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, and fans are very excited about the tournament. It was Sunrisers Hyderabad who managed to get their hands on the last IPL title. However, after a mega auction, all teams have been revamped.

The tournament will be played in a league and knockout format. There are 10 teams that participate in the IPL, all of which are part of the same group. Each team will play 14 games. The top four teams at the end of the group stage will qualify for the knockout stages. The top two teams will play in the first qualifier, with the winner going straight to the final. The third and fourth-placed teams will play in the eliminator, with the loser being knocked out. The winner of the eliminator and the loser of the first qualifier face each other, and the winner will reach the finals. These two teams will fight for the trophy.

The game between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bangalore on 22nd March 2025 kicked off IPL 2025. KKR batted first, and while Quinton de Kock lost his wicket early, Sunil Narine and Ajinkya Rahane put up a good partnership to help KKR set a target of 175 for RCB to try and chase down. While the target was not too high, no one expected that the Royal Challengers Bangalore would be able to chase it so easily. Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, and Rajat Patidar all put in very good performances to help the Royal Challengers Bangalore chase the score down in 16.2 overs, helping RCB win the season opener by seven wickets.

The second IPL 2025 game took place between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals, and it saw SRH make the second-highest score in Indian Premier League history. SRH batted first, and incredible performances by Travis Head and Ishan Kishan, along with several others, saw SRH score a massive 286 runs in 20 overs, just one run less than the highest IPL score of all time. Rajasthan Royals fought back valiantly despite such a high target, and efforts by Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel saw them come close. However, SRH ended up restricting them to 242 runs, and Sunrisers Hyderabad ended up winning the game by a margin of 44 runs.

The most looked-forward game from the opening week of IPL 2025 was the game between the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings. MI batted first, but nearly the entire team struggled to get going, and CSK were able to restrict them to just 155 runs, with the best bowling efforts coming from Noor Ahmed (four wickets) and Khaleel Ahmed (three wickets). It looked like CSK would chase this down very easily, but MI’s surprise player, Vignesh Puthur, ended up picking up some crucial wickets to make the game interesting. However, thanks to the efforts of Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK ended up chasing the score down in 19.1 overs.
