IPL 2023: Leading Run Scorers

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) kicked off on 31st March 2023. Starting off with eight teams in 2008, the IPL now consists of ten teams representing different cities in India. It has gone on to establish itself as the best franchise-based competitions in the world.

The T20 tournament having a plethora of talent on display with all the world-class stars featuring in it. It has seen a ton of players light the stage on fire with their batting performances over the years. From Jos Buttler and David Warner to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the IPL is filled with superstars who will battle it out to walk away with the Orange Cap.

The Orange Cap is an award given to the batsman who ends up scoring the most amount of runs in a single Indian Premier League season. Started during the inception of the tournament in 2008, it has seen many legendary batsmen don the cap in the Indian Premier League. IPL follows a round-robin format, which sees all the 10 teams square off against each other at least twice in the tournament. Every side plays their opponent once at home and once away during the group stages. Four teams make it past the group stages in the knockouts, with two sides competing in the final and end the quest of winning the trophy.

Gujarat Titans who made their debut in the Indian Premier League last year shocked everyone by walking away with the title in their maiden season. While they will be eager to replicate this form, teams like Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will avoid a repeat of last year this time around. The unpredictability in India’s domestic T20 league makes it an enticing competition to follow for cricket fans.
