IPL 2023: All You Need To Know About The Upcoming Mini Auction

The dates of IPL 2023 mini auction have been announced as fans eagerly waited for more details ahead of the next edition of the tournament. The IPL 2023 mini auction is all set to take place on 23rd December in Kochi. The announcement was made by Arun Dhumal, who also shared his ambitions of making the tournament one of the best leading domestic competitions in the world.

The upcoming Indian Premier League auction provides the ten franchises an opportunity to rebuild their squads ahead of the upcoming season. All teams participating in this cash-rich league have already begun preparations and are looking to sort out their squads for next year’s edition.

Franchises will have to share the names of players retained and released from their respective squads soon, with the deadline approaching fast. According to reports, all teams will have to submit the list of released players and finalize the player pool by 15th November.

IPL 2023 Mini Auction- Purse details 

For the upcoming IPL 2023 mini auction, every side is granted an additional sum of Rs 5 crore, which takes the overall purse value to Rs 95 crore ahead of the next edition. The additional five crores can be used alongside the amount left from every franchise’s previous auction purse that took place earlier. Teams can also increase the purse value by releasing a contracted player.

Punjab Kings will head into the IPL 2023 mini action with the largest purse. They had INR 3.45 crore leftover from the previous auction, while Chennai Super Kings had INR 2.95 crore in the kitty. Royal Challengers Bangalore (1.55 crore) are the third team with the highest amount of money left in their kitty, with IPL 2022 finalists Rajasthan Royals (0.95 crores) slotted at the fourth position.

Kolkata Knight Riders (0.45 crore) are fifth, with defending champions Gujarat Titans left with INR 0.15 crore in their wallet. The likes of Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians have INR 0.10 crore in their wallet, while Lucknow Super Giants exhausted their entire purse last time around.

The upcoming IPL 2023 mini auction is most likely going to be a one-day event. Various star allrounders like Ben Stokes, Cameron Green and Sam Curran go under the hammer, with Mitchell Starc also expected to be amongst the names in the auction. It remains interesting to see which franchise will go for these players on 23rd December 2022 in Kochi.
