He made dis debut for the Delhi Capitals (DC) against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The young wicketkeeper-batsman got an opportunity to feature in the Indian Premier League as Delhi Capitals were on the lookout for a wicketkeeper In the absence of Rishabh Pant for IPL 2023. Porel, alongside the likes of Luvnith Sisodia Sheldon Jackson and Vivek Singh appeared for a camp wherein the uncapped wicketkeepers were put through a few match simulation exercises. The Delhi Capitals coaching group, alongside head coach Ricky Ponting and director of cricket Sourav Ganguly monitored the drills before taking the decision.

The young Porel was impressed with his skills and got a golden opportunity to feature in the Indian Premier League. He grabbed the important role while showcasing and talent on the biggest stage, with Delhi Capitals signing the Bengal-based cricketer. He entered the scene following a first full season with the Bengal team in domestic cricket. Featuring various competitions, he was impressed with his work behind the stumps but did not make it big with the bat across formats.

Despite scoring only 22 runs in three Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy outings, Porel has a lot of potential. His returns in first-class cricket have been better, where in he scored six half-centuries from 26 innings. The Delhi Capitals star has a big future ahead of him.
