India’s Win Over SA: Experts Comment

Rishabh Pant picked up his first win as the Indian team captain as the Men in Blue registered a 48 run victory over the Proteas. Heading into the game on the back of two consecutive losses, Rahul Dravid’s men managed to pull one back in the five-match series. India rode on performances from players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal to defeat South Africa in Visakhapatnam. Let’s have a look at how experts reacted to India’s win in the third T20.

Expert comments after India’s win:

Gaikwad, who struggled to get going in the national colours came out all guns blazing to register his first 50 for India. He was accompanied well by Kishan who continued his onslaught against the SA bowlers in the third game.

Both the Indian openers managed to slam half centuries as Gaikwad ended up with 57 off 35 which included seven fours and two sixes while Kishan amassed 54 off just 35 balls. Despite a little blip in the middle overs, Hardik Pandya’s cameo of 31* from 21 balls at the end played a crucial role in helping India reach a total of 179.

Moving onto the second innings, the biggest issue for India in the previous two outings was the bowling units’ inability to come together and get wickets. However, things turned out well for Men in Blue at Visakhapatnam as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Avesh Khan bowled tight lines in the first few overs.

A master stroke by Pant to bring Axar Patel in the 4th over worked wonders for India as the DC star got rid of SA skipper Temba Bavuma. His opening partner Reeza Hendricks could also manage a mere 23 runs falling victim to Patel at the end of power play.

With two wickets down in six overs, India managed to keep the SA batters under pressure while Chahal came in and stole the show. The RR star ended the game with figures of 3/20 in four overs and walked away with the Man of the Match award for his fantastic outing. Another stand out performer with the ball for India was Patel who took four wickets.

The win over SA saw the series’ scoreboard reading 2-1, keeping India in contention of winning the bilateral series. It all boils down to the last two games with the 4th clash set to take place on 17th June in Rajkot.
