While India will be eager to keep the winning momentum going, South Africa will look to get back on the winning ways in Guwahati on 2nd October. .Thank you for tuning in to the live updates and we will be back for the second clash as well. Goodnight.
Singh said, “In the first over DC bhai (Deepak Chahar) set the tone and we knew there was plenty of help from the surface. The plan was to keep it simple and bowl in the right areas. I enjoyed Miller’s wicket as I thought he was expecting an outswinger but I bowled an inswinger instead. The thought was to get his (Maharaj) wicket but he played well and the plan could have been different. I am refreshed, had a good training session at NCA and hopefully I give such performances moving forward as well.”
Rohit Sharma, “The wicket was tricky. You learn a lot playing such a game. You understand what the team needs to do in tough conditions. It was nice to play a game like that. We knew the bowlers will get something seeing grass on the pitch, but we didn’t expected help for the full 20 overs. It was still damp. Both teams were in the contest and the team that played better won the game. We started well, got 5 wickets in quick time and that was the turning point. Perfect showcase of how to bowl when there is help for the pacers. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Got to respect the conditions. Lost two wickets and that partnership between KL and Surya got us home.”
The SA skipper said, “As a batting unit we failed to apply ourselves in those conditions. We didn’t expect the pitch to play this way. Yes we expected it to be spicy but normally you will be able to hit through the line in this part of the world. Seamers needed runs behind then to defend. They tried their best and supported by spinners as well. I thought we fought well late with the bat. That’s a positive.”
The 35 year old captain of the Indian cricket team has registered the most wins in T20Is as Men in Blue skipper in a calander year.

Hello and welcome to the live updates of the India vs South Africa 1st T20. Rohit Sharma has won the toss and opted to field first. Here’s what he had to say
Rohit Sharma, “We are gonna bowl first. It was a good wicket when we played here last time. Bit of green covering but it’s gonna be a good batting track. Very critical to continue to do what you’re doing and keep that momentum in this format. Very healthy atmosphere in the group and we also want to make sure to tick all the boxes and so far we have been doing good and we just want to continue to do that. Hardik and Bhuvi are rested from the last series. Pant and Arshdeep come in for them. Bumrah and Chahal miss out.”
Mohammed Shami, who tested positive for Covid-19 before the Australia series was named in the T20I squad against the Proteas. The management was keen to try Shami but for the India vs South Africa T20 series but he has been ruled out wit Umesh Yadav sticking in the team. With Hardik Pandya rested and Deepak Hooda injured, Shahbaz Ahmed has been called earned his maiden national team call.
Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli stole the show in Hyderabad in the final T20I clash to hand the hosts some much needed momentum before the white ball matches against South Africa. However, India have a few concerns to address against the Proteas with the pace attack looking below par. Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have not been able to showcase their skills and lacked colour against the Aussies.
After losing the first clash at Mohali, Rohit Sharma and co managed to bounce back in the 8-over thriller at Nagpur. They rode on the performances of the team skipper while Dinesh Karthik finished things at the end to take the series level with the third game determining the winner.
