ICC T20I Rankings Sees India, Sri Lanka Players Gain Big Jumps

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest Women’s T20I Player Rankings which sees Indian and Sri Lankan players gain maximum jumps. The change in ranks came after the completion of the T20I series between India and Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu jumped one spot up in the batting charts for her excellent outings in recent matches. She now has 664 points against her tally which helped her jump up to seventh place on the table, her highest rating so far.

Athapaththu played brilliantly in the recently concluded T20I series against India. She registered 16 and 43 in the first two of the three-match series before scoring a match-winning 80 not out in the final T20I. Athapaththu ended the series averaging 69.50 while amassing 139 runs in three games. She also moved up two spots in the latest all-rounders’ list as well.

Oshadi Ranasinghe made a 11-spot jump, and now finds herself on the 26th in the rankings. Inoka Ranaweera was also rewarded for ending the series as the leading wicket-taker. She moved up 16 places in the Women’s T20I Player Rankings breaking into the top 50, sitting at the 47th position.

Speaking about the Indian players, Radha Yadav impressed the most with her spin. She ended the series with four wickets in three matches against her name which saw her gain seven spots, moving upto the 13th place in the rankings. Pooja Vastrakar picked up two wickets in the series which got her a massive jump of 30 spots to the 32nd position in Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur also scored 92 runs while picking up one wicket against Sri Lanka. While Kaur moved up by five spots, Shafali Verma slipped to the 5th position, dropping by 2 spots after poor outings against Sri Lanka.

After the T20 series, players from Sri Lanka and India stand a chance to improve their rankings in the ODI format. Both the teams will square off in a three-match ICC Women’s Championship (IWC) series  which will help them boost their MRF Tyres ICC Women’s ODI Players Rankings.
