IPL 2023: Players To Reach 6000 Runs In The IPL

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most followed cricket competitions in the world, with fans of the sport all across the globe latching onto their screens for the same fast paced action. There is a lot of talent on display as fans eagerly wait for their favourite players to take the field and showcase their skills. One of the most significant milestones for batters in the IPL is breaching various barriers, with a mere few players scoring 6000 runs. Let’s take a closer look at the IPL cricketers who have managed to reach this milestone.

Players to score 6,000 runs in IPL 

Virat Kohli

The former Indian skipper was the first player to who has crossed the 6000 runs milestone and became the fastest to reach 6000 runs in IPL history. Kohli achieved this feat in IPL 2021 during the 16th match of the season against Rajasthan Royals. Playing at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the middle RCB star opened the batting with Devdutt Padikkal. He played superbly and helped RCB get to their target of 178 runs in just 16.3 overs. 

Shikhar Dhawan

The Indian opener is only the second player to reach this milestone, with the Punjab Kings captain completing 6000 runs in 2022. He became the second player to reach 6000 runs in IPL and achieved this feat in his 200th match in the tournament. Dhawan started off his IPL career with the Delhi-based franchise, where he scored a match-winning half-century on his debut. 

Later on, he joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad before returning back to Delhi Capitals in 2019. Following a three-year stint with the team, the aggressive top-order batter joined Punjab Kings in the 2022 player auction. Since then, he has been a solid performer for the team and is also named the captain of the side for the 2023 season.

David Warner

The Australian opener went on to become the 3rd player to score 6000+ runs in the Indian Premier League. Warner shined with the bat in IPL 2023 and achieved the feat at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati against Rajasthan Royals. The Delhi Capitals’ captain is the fastest batsman to reach 6000 runs in the Indian Premier League.

He achieved the feat behind the Indian duo of Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan and is also the only foreign player to be a part of the elusive list. Warner is the fastest player to reach 6000 runs taking 165 innings to reach this milestone. Kohli, on the other hand, needed 199 innings, while Dhawan took 199 innings to score 6000 runs.

Rohit Sharma

The Mumbai Indians skipper has been amongst the highest run scorers in the Indian Premier League (IPL).Despite faring well for the national team, Sharma has a major dip in form while playing in the cash rich T20 competition. he managed to bounce back and announced his return to form against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023. After being dismissed at 65 from 45 balls, Rohit Sharma brought his tally up to 5966 runs. The Indian team captain needs just 34 runs to breach the barrer and is expected to break the mile stone in IPL 2023.
