Cricket Ireland have revealed their 14-member squad for the upcoming matches against New Zealand. The Irish team is set to square off against the Kiwis in both the white ball formats with the hosts first playing 3 T2oI’s which kick start on 10th July.
The team management has decided to back most of the players that shined in their recently concluded series against India. Despite being completely outplayed in the first T20I, The Irish team gave India a tough fight in the last game. They almost defeated the Men in Blue after being asked to chase down a mammoth score of 226 with Andrew Balbirnie’s men just falling short by four runs in Dublin. Ireland will be eager to build on such growing performances when they take on New Zealand at home.

Andrew White, Ireland’s Chair of National Men’s Selectors shared a statement after the announcement of the T20I squad for the upcoming matches against NZ. He said, “Naturally, the selectors are backing the players that performed well against India – the high standards we sought were delivered upon, and we hope the squad can put in similar performances against New Zealand.”
He added, “The second T20I against India was a superb spectacle for the fans, but I know the coaching staff and players were gutted not to get across the line. The players should take great confidence from the past week, and we hope that this can lead to greater consistency in performances. It would be fantastic to see the sporting public – young and not-so-young – come out in their numbers and support the team at Stormont.”
