Arthur Morris had an incredible performance in the 1948 Ashes, becoming one of the highest run scorers in a single series. In the first match, he scored 31 runs and nine runs while managing 105 runs and 62 runs in the second match. Morris scored 51 runs in the first inning of the third match and 54 runs in the second inning. The first inning of the fourth game did not go too well, and Arthur Morris scored just six runs, but he managed to score 182 runs in the second inning. Morris ended up batting just once in the fifth and final game and scored 196 runs, taking his total tally up to 696 runs in the series.
David Gower was England’s captain during the 1985 Ashes series and had an absolutely fantastic showing. Gower did not start out too well and scored just 17 runs and five runs in the first game. His second game was better, and he managed to score 86 runs and 22 runs. Gower was incredible in the third inning and scored 166 runs in the first inning and 17 runs in the second inning. Gower ended up batting just once in the fourth game and scored 47 runs. He batted just once in the fifth inning as well, but this time managed to score a massive 215 runs, taking his total tally in the series up to 732 runs.
Herbert Sutcliffe had a fantastic showing in the 1924/25 Ashes series. He scored 59 runs and 115 runs in the first game, starting very well. Sutcliffe was brilliant in the second game and managed to score 176 runs in the first inning and 127 runs in the second inning. Herbert Sutcliffe played lower down the order in the third Test and only scored 33 runs in the first inning and 59 runs in the second inning. Sutcliffe played just once in the fourth game and managed to score 143 runs. While Herbert Sutcliffe played in both innings of the final Test, he managed to score only 22 runs, bringing his total tally to 734 runs.
Don Bradman is regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time and had an incredible showing in the 1934 Ashes series. He did not start out too well, scoring 29 and 25 runs in the first game. The second game was even worse, and he scored just 36 runs and 13 runs. Bradman batted just once in the third game and scored just 30 runs. However, his performances in the fourth and fifth Tests were phenomenal. Don Bradman batted just once in the fourth game but managed to score a whopping 304 runs and followed this by scoring 244 runs and 77 runs in the fifth game, taking his final series tally up to 758 runs.
Alastair Cook started the 2010/11 Ashes series incredibly well, scoring 67 runs in the first innings and 235 runs in the second innings. Cook got to bat just once in the second game but still managed to score 148 runs. Alastair Cook did not perform well in the third game, scoring 32 and 13 runs. Cook played just once in both the fourth and the fifth games but managed to score 82 runs in 152 balls in the fourth game and a whopping 189 runs in 342 balls in the fifth game to take his total tally in the 2010/11 Ashes series to 766 runs.

Steve Smith was the highest run scorer in the 2019 Ashes series, and it made him the fifth highest run scorer in a single Ashes series. Smith started incredibly well and managed to score 144 runs and 142 runs in the first game. Smith played in just one inning in the second game but managed to score 92 runs. Smith ended up missing the third game completely but followed up brilliantly, scoring 211 runs and 82 runs in the fourth game. Steve Smith ended the fifth game decently well, managing to score 80 runs in the first inning and 23 runs in the second, bringing his total run tally to 774 runs.
Don Bradman had an incredible showing in the 1936/37 Ashes series. In the first game, he scored just 38 runs and was dismissed on a duck. In the second game, he got on a duck first but then scored 82 runs. While Bradman scored just 13 runs in the first inning of the third game, he managed to score 270 runs in the second inning. Once again, Bradman had an average first inning and a spectacular second inning. While he managed just 26 runs in the first inning, he scored a whopping 212 runs in the second inning. Bradman batted just once in the fifth game but managed to score 169 runs, taking his total to 810 runs.
Mark Taylor played in 11 innings of the 1989 Ashes series. He scored 136 runs and 60 runs in the first game. He followed this up by scoring 62 runs and 27 runs in the second game. Taylor ended up scoring 43 runs in the first inning of the third game and 51 runs in the second inning. The Australian star ended up scoring 85 runs and 37 runs in the fourth game, and while he played just one inning in the fifth game, he scored a massive 219 runs. Mark Taylor scored 71 runs in the first inning of the final game and 48 runs in the second inning, reaching a total of 839 runs.
Wally Hammond is the second-highest run scorer in a single Ashes series and achieved this feat in the 1028/29 series. Hammond scored just 44 runs and 28 runs in the first game, but backed this up with a brilliant performance. He batted just once in the second game but managed to score 251 runs. Wally Hammond did brilliantly in the third game, scoring 200 runs in the first inning and 32 runs in the second inning. Hammond scored centuries in both innings in the fourth game, scoring 119 runs and 177 runs. The English star scored just 38 runs and 16 runs in the final game of the series to take his total tally up to 905 runs.
Don Bradman had the best showing of his career in the Ashes in the 1930 series. He scored eight runs and 131 runs in the first game. Bradman reversed his performances in the second game and scored 254 runs in the first inning while managing just one run in the second inning. Don Bradman batted just once in the third game but still managed to score a massive 334 runs. The Australian star batted just once in the fourth game as well, but this time scored just 14 runs. Australia batted just once in the fifth game as well, and Bradman managed another huge score, scoring 232 runs to take his tally up to 974 runs.
