Former Zimbabwe cricketer Heath Streak was said to have passed away on 23rd August 2023. The 49-year-old cricketer has reported to have taken his last breath after a prolonged battle with cancer. However, Former Zimbabwe star Henry Olonga has just confirmed that his team mate is alive. The fast bowler took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared a screenshot of his WhatsApp chat with the fellow teammate.

Current Zimbabwe captain Sean Williams who was Streak’s long-time teammate also posted on the microblogging site stating, “Streaky, No words can explain what you and your family have done for mine and many others. Our hearts our broken you leave behind a beautiful family and a legacy for us to live up to! You will be missed we love you dearly Rest in peace streaky 💔.”

Indian off-spinner R Ashwin also took to social media and spoke on Streak’s death writing, “Heath Streak is no more. Sad!! Really sad.” However, the tweet has now been deleted. Streak was diagnosed with colon and liver cancer by his family and friends and was undergoing treatment in South Africa. The former cricketer played 65 Test matches and 189 ODIs and captained Zimbabwe between 2000-2004.
