Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya believes that he can be a part of the national team and do the job of a frontline seamer. He remains to be the only pacer in the squad apart from Arshdeep Singh who completed his full quota of overs in the three T20Is against the West Indies.
Pandya spoke about his bowling while speaking with the media after India secured a 2-1 series lead in the 5-match series. EspnCricinfo has quoted the all-rounder saying, “I’ve enjoyed bowling. I’ve mentioned multiple times, that was the reason I felt I should take some time off to make sure my bowling comes off because I’ve realised when I bowl, it gives a lot of balance to the side; it gives a lot of confidence to the captain.”
He added, “Yes, I used to bowl before. I used to be a filler in between when someone is not bowling well. I can probably say I can bowl four overs now as a third seamer or a fourth seamer where I can contribute equally as I do with the bat.”
The 28-year-old was seen mixing up his bowling in the first innings of the third T20I against the Caribbean outfit. West Indies had gotten off to a good start with Kyle Mayers dominating the first four overs of the innings. After coming on to bowl, Hardik Pandya adjusted his bowling and strangled the WI batters. Finishing with figures of 1 for 19, the 28-year-old’s bowling helped India register a seven-wicket victory with Mayers also complimenting Pandya and co for using the conditions to their advantage.

Hardik Pandya said, “For me, it’s the approach that I’m following. For me, it’s not about the result. It’s about how I take the game on, how smart I’m thinking and how I can make sure I use the situation and condition[s] which is offering me something with the bat or the ball.”
The all-rounder is also named as the vice-captain of the T20I team for the ongoing West Indies tour. Pandya, who earlier captained India for the first time in their 2-0 series win over Ireland shared how he feels that responsibility has added some more flair to his game.
Hardik Pandya concluded with, “I’ve always enjoyed responsibility and it has added more and more to my game. Whenever I’ve taken the responsibility, it has added some more flair to my game because it makes me think more and when I think more it just adds more value to my cricket.”
