The Indian team is seen experimenting and trying various combinations across the playing XI since Rahul Dravid was named as the head coach of the team. Him alongside Rohit Sharma have tested various players across different positions in the last few months. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has gone to praise the head coach for providing confidence and security amongst players despite all the changes.
Many senior players in Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Shami were rested for the recent ODI series against the West Indies. While Sharma was brought back into the team, a few senior stars enjoyed an extended break with the team management looking to keep them fresh for the Asia Cup.
The absence of star players like Jasprit Bumrah has seen the rise of Arshdeep Singh. The young speedster has started to make a name for himself in the shortest format of the game and is now well on track to be a part of the Indian team that will compete at the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.
The 28-year-old was seen heaping praise on Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid for building a team with a secure environment in the dressing room. He went on to add how players have already been informed about the chances they will get beforehand. Pandya shares how it stops the players from looking over their shoulders as they have been assured and know what is coming their way.
Speaking with the media after the third T20I against West Indies, Hardik Pandya said, “A lot of credit goes to him (Rohit Sharma) and Rahul Dravid, the way they’ve got the team together. Making sure a lot of positive mindset come in and at the same point of time players are feeling secure, they are not looking over their shoulder, making sure they are getting ample chances. They are being told if they are not playing, so that is something which is commendable.”

The all-rounder also spoke about being named the vice-captain of the Indian team for the ongoing T20I series against the Caribbean outfit. Hardik Pandya shares how added responsibilities gives a lot more flair in his game, making him think about various ways to help the team.
Hardik Pandya added, “I’ve always enjoyed the responsibility, and it has added more and more to my game. As many games I’ve played whenever I’ve taken the responsibility role, and it has added a little more flair to my game because it makes me think more, and when I think more, it adds more value to my cricket.”
