The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to begin in just 15 days. Ever since the first edition back in 2008, IPL has been a huge success. The tournament has created a platform for players to grow and be in form for their respective national sides. The IPL has also been a birthplace for uncapped players to rise and shine. So, let’s have a look at some players to watch out in the upcoming season:

MS Dhoni

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni announced his international retirement last month, leaving many fans disappointed. He played his last game in the 2019 World Cup against New Zealand. Dhoni will be back this season for CSK and his fans are eager to watch him take on the bowlers. CSK lost to MI in IPL 2019 and will be eyeing the trophy once again. 

Dhoni is has bagged some of the most prestigious wins for the country and club, his approach to each competition and on-field philosophy is one that translates across all sports like poker.

Pant’s IPL performances have been outstanding, scoring close to 700 runs two years ago in IPL 2018. He was the youngster of the year for two continuous seasons. His IPL performances have boosted his ticket to the national squad, but he failed to capitalise on several occasions. IPL 2020 will be another chance for him to prove his worth and make a comeback to the national team.

Australian pacer Pat Cummins is the most expensive overseas cricketer in history. The speedster will lead KKR bowling attack in the upcoming season. One of the world’s most feared bowlers, he has the ability to win matches single handedly. Cummins will be closely watched in IPL 2020.

Hardik Pandya

The Mumbai Indian star has been destructive on the field the last few IPL’s. He has been seen having a good time at the practice nets. The all rounder has been out of the field for a long time. In early 2020, he had to miss out on some matches as he failed to qualify in the fitness test. It will be interesting to see how Pandya fares in his comeback.

Virat Kohli

The skipper is all set for the upcoming tournament and eager to get back to the field. The last time Kohli played was back in March, when India faced South Africa in a three match ODI series. Although the series was postponed due to rain and later the series got postponed following the COVID-19 outbreak. RCB recently tweeted Kohli’s net session showcasing his excellent form and he is excited for the matches to come.

Fans around the world are excited and have been eagerly waiting for the start of the tournaments. This season is going to be different compared to every other season, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Cricket officials have taken necessary precautions for the safety of the players and staff that will be travelling to UAE. IPL 2020 will be played from 19 September and the final will be played on 10 November 2020.
