Test cricket is the longest format of cricket, traditionally played over five days, completely in contrast to the fastest format of the game, Twenty20. Each team has two innings to bat and bowl, aiming to score more runs than the opponent. The format emphasises endurance, strategy, and skill, with matches often swinging back and forth. Players wear white clothing and use a red ball. This format is considered the pinnacle of the sport, testing the mental and physical resilience of players.
It is known for its rich history and iconic moments, making it a true test of a cricketer’s abilities and a favourite among purists. As it is so long, players usually tend to make runs very slowly and emphasise consistency overruns. However, some players are known to throw caution to the wind and go after bowlers even in this format. This article talks about some of the fastest centuries scored in test cricket.
