Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is an online game where players from around the world build a team consisting of 15 players. You get to field a team of 11 players each week and choose a captain. You can make transfers every week to bring in new players who seem to be in form. Your players give you points depending on their performance in the game and how crucial they were in helping their team get the result. This article talks about the captaincy picks and the best differential transfers you can do this week to finish at the top.
🚨HAALAND GW2 Triple Captain 🚨
✅ Pros:
🔹Lack of DGWs this season.
🔹Ipswich whith the most XGC in GW1.
🔹Haaland well rested, explosive in SGWs, starts every season sharp and hauls every August 😅.❌ Cons:
🔸No Rodri and lack of fitness for some players.Thoughts? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/cRdnQvAslG

Erling Haaland is the most obvious captain choice for Gameweek 2 of the Fantasy Premier League. Manchester City faces newly promoted Ipswich Town, who lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the first week. Manchester City will likely dominate the game, and Erling Haaland will get many goal-scoring opportunities. This makes him a prime candidate to hand the captaincy armband to for this week.

Mohamed Salah is the second choice on our captaincy list. He was the top points scorer in Gameweek 1, and it is likely that he will continue his red-hot form when Liverpool faces Brentford at Anfield on Sunday. It is likely that all players have at least one of Haaland or Salah, if not both, in their teams, and you can make your pick depending on which player you opted for while building your team.
Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford are ManUtd’s leading scorers against Brighton, both with 4 each. 🇵🇹 🏴 pic.twitter.com/FAuRAwuiYF

Bruno Fernandes ended up blanking in Gameweek 1, failing to deliver any kind of goal contribution, but that does not mean he had a bad game. In fact, he was Manchester United’s most involved player, repeatedly getting on the ball and trying to score. He had quite a few chances throughout the game, ending with an xG (expected goals) of 1.19. He will surely return sooner or later and is a good captaincy candidate for Gameweek 2 of the Fantasy Premier League.

Kevin De Bruyne is another differential option for captaincy in Gameweek 2. If you do not own Erling Haaland and opted to go with Kevin De Bruyne instead and feel the matchup between Manchester City and Ipswich Town is too good to pass on, you can opt to captain De Bruyne this week. He will surely love threading the ball through Ipswich’s defense and giving them a good welcome to the Premier League.
It's Solanke Time ⚪🔥

Dominic Solanke is a completely differential shout for Gameweek 1 of the Fantasy Premier League. This captaincy option is for those who think the big names are going to flop this week and want to try and profit from this by choosing an obscure captain, which will act as a differential. Tottenham played well in their first game but could only manage a draw. They face Everton at home next week, and this could be the perfect opportunity for Solanke to start firing.

Chris Wood started his season with a goal against Bournemouth to help his team secure a draw. He ended up bagging all three bonus points and ended the first week with nine points. He will face a newly promoted Southampton next week and will look to continue his goal-scoring form when he travels to St Mary’s Stadium. At just 6.5% ownership and a price of £6.0 Million, he is a fantastic differential option.
The Jamie Vardy experience (37 years old with no preseason):
• Downs a can of red bull before the second half
• Scores the equaliser against Spurs (earned his team a point)
• Reminds them that he has 1 PL title and they have 0
• Tells Romero to f off pic.twitter.com/S6XVwvNRYF— 🇨🇩🇸🇱 (@8Flavs) August 19, 2024
Jamie Vardy is well and truly back in the Premier League. He scored against Tottenham Hotspur in the first game, and his antics both on and off the pitch immediately put him exactly where he loves to be: in the spotlight. Vardy will hope he can start another consecutive goal-scoring run and give his FPL owners some good returns when he faces Fulham next week.
The noise at Old Trafford for Joshua Zirkzee's debut goal 🔊
That goal helped @ManUtd start the season with a win against Fulham!pic.twitter.com/Y17aN7uZdk

Joshua Zirkzee is Manchester United’s new signing. He made his Premier League debut in the first game of the season. He came on as a substitute and ended up scoring the winner to help Manchester United secure all three points against Fulham. He will face Brighton in Gameweek 2 and will surely be a strong contender to start the game after his heroics last week. If he does end up getting the nod, he can be a fantastic differential for Gameweek 2.

Dominic Szoboszlai had a good first game, getting an assist on the board against Ipswich Town in Gameweek 1. He will face Brentford at home next week, which is a very good matchup for Liverpool. Szoboszlai’s main selling point, however, is his price and his ownership. He costs just £6.5 Million and is owned by just 2.5% of Fantasy Premier League owners, which makes him a very desirable pick.
Joelinton Gives Newcastle the lead against Southampton.
— ShantanuNUFC (@ShantanuNufc) August 17, 2024
Joelinton is the final differential pick for the second Gameweek of the Fantasy Premier League. The midfielder managed to score 11 points in the first week. The only midfielders to score more points than Joelinton were Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka. He is worth only £6 Million and is owned by just 2.2% of Fantasy Premier League owners. This makes him a fantastic differential who has a lot of potential to return big.
