The Fantasy Premier League is one of the biggest fantasy football games in the entire world. More than 11 Million players participate in this tournament worldwide. You can make a fantasy football team filled with players from the Premier League and compete with others during the entire season. To make it even more interesting, FPL has various booster chips which can be used throughout the season. There are a total of five chips as of now: Bench Boost, Triple Captain, Wildcard, Free Hit, and Assistant Manager. This article talks about when and how you can use these Fantasy Premier League booster chips.

Wildcard is one of the most crucial chips in the Fantasy Premier League. This is the only chip you get to use multiple times throughout the season. You get one Wildcard at the start of the season, which can be used as early as Gameweek 2. This Wildcard needs to be used as late as Gameweek 19 of the Fantasy Premier League as you get a new Wildcard to use from Gameweek 20 onwards. A Wildcard helps you completely revamp your team without taking any negative points.
You can make as many transfers as you want from the time you play this chip until the next deadline. The best time to use this booster chip is when your team is looking out of form, and you feel like you need to change a major chunk of your team, at least eight or nine players. This is the time you use your Wildcard plan for the upcoming weeks and get the free reign to rebuild your team without the pressure of negative points for making excessive transfers.
The Triple Captain chip is a very important booster chip in the Fantasy Premier League. You choose a captain every week, and this player gives you double the points. However, the Triple Captain pick will give your player triple points for the week you choose to play the Triple Captain chip. Ideally, the best time to play this chip is when your preferred attacker/midfielder is going to face a very easy opponent. The best time to play it would be during a Fantasy Premier League double Gameweek as then your player will get to play two games in the same week and get triple points for the total points he scores in both these games combined.

The Assistant Manager chip is one which was introduced ahead of the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League season. This is a new chip that explores the possibility of not just players but also managers giving you points. You can add a manager to your team to score points for three consecutive Gameweeks. The Assistant Manager chip can be used once a season. Your initial manager selection will not cost a transfer. Any further manager transfers will either cost a free transfer or -4 points. The manager will give you points depending on how the team does during this period, which teams they beat and where they were placed on the table when you played this booster.

The Free Hit is a unique booster chip that works in a similar way to a Wildcard. The best way to explain it would be to call it a temporary Wildcard. The Free Hit chip allows you to make unlimited transfers and revamp your team without picking up any negative points, but this new team will play for you for only one week. The best time to play this chip is when some players in your team are unavailable for some reason. While they will not play this week, you want them in your team a week later and don’t want to transfer them out. The Free Hit is a perfect chip to do this.
Bench Boost is a booster that allows you to get points from every single player in your team instead of just the starting XI scoring points. You get to choose 15 players to build your team, but you have to select a starting XI every week. These 11 players will give you points unless someone in your team does not play in which case a sub can come in. However, for some weeks, your entire team seems to have easy fixtures, and you want to play your entire team. This is when the bench boost comes in, as you can use this chip, and all 15 players in your team will score points for you that week.
