FanCode Acquires Broadcasting Rights For Formula 1 In India

Formula 1 has seen a drastic increase in its following, especially in India. Since the release of the Netflix series ‘Drive To Survive’, Formula 1 has grown exponentially in India, with fans clamouring to watch the races. F1 was initially broadcast by Star Sports in India. However, they failed to reach an agreement for the 2023 season.

Due to this, fans had to get used to a new way of watching the exhilarating sport. Formula 1 was broadcast in India on F1’s official streaming service, F1 TV. While this streaming service provided fans with some very interesting and innovative features like onboard cameras, team radio for all twenty drivers, and multiple options for commentary, the Indian fan base was not happy regarding the pricing of the service.

The subscription for F1 TV Pro was priced at ₹299/- monthly and ₹2,499/- annually. Fans found this pricing a little too expensive. However, all this has changed this year. FanCode has acquired the broadcasting rights for Formula 1 in India. They will stream the 2024 and 2025 F1 seasons on their website and app.

Yannick Colaco, co-founder of FanCode, spoke about acquiring the rights to broadcast F1 in India. He said:

“Formula 1 is among the biggest sporting properties in the world, and we’re thrilled to partner with them to bring all the exciting action to millions of fans in India. Aside from providing F1 fans with a world-class experience, we look forward to taking the sport to a wider audience across the country.”

The director of media rights and content creation of Formula 1, Ian Holmes, also announced this partnership between F1 and FanCode. He said the following:

“I am delighted to announce that fans in India will be able to watch F1 on FanCode for the next two seasons. We have found a strong broadcast partner in them with expert knowledge on how we can best serve our 60 million existing fans and reach new audiences in India. Together, we will take our combined expertise to produce premium content that showcases the sporting spectacle that is F1.”

What Packages Are Offered By FanCode To Stream Formula 1 In India?

 

The pass to watch Formula 1 on FanCode is priced at extremely reasonable rates. You can buy the Formula 1 Season Pass to get access to all the races in the 2024 season, or you can purchase a pass for an individual race weekend. The Race Weekend Pass is priced at ₹49/- per race weekend. This will give you access to the main race, qualifying, and practice for Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3 for that particular race weekend.

The Formula 1 Season Pass is priced at ₹599/-. This is a drastic drop from the annual fee of F1 TV Pro, which was priced at ₹2,499/-. This pass will let you watch the main race, qualifying, and practice for all 24 races in the season. This comes down to approximately ₹25 per race, an extremely reasonable price.

You can stream Formula 1 on either the FanCode website or on their app. The app is available on mobile as well as TV (Android TV, Fire TV, or Jio TV apps). While F1 is available to stream on FanCode, Indian fans can also opt to watch it on F1 TV. While it is priced at a considerably higher rate, it provides a few unique features which FanCode does not. Hardcore F1 fans may choose to opt for the F1 TV subscription due to these features, but fans who just want to enjoy the race will go for the cheaper FanCode subscription.
