England Vice-Captain Moeen Ali SAID THIS Ahead Of India Clash

Moeen Ali has made a big statement on the Indian cricket team ahead of their highly awaited clash in the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2022. The England vice-captain claims his side to be the ‘underdogs’ against the Men in Blue in the upcoming encounter at the Adelaide Oval.

England and India will lock horns in the semifinals of the ICC T20 World Cup on Thursday, 10th November. The Rohit Sharma-led team managed to top their Super 12 group with 8 points from 5 games. They have won all their matches in group 2, apart from the lone loss to South Africa.

The Jos Buttler-led team, on the other end, finished second in their Group with seven points against their name, with New Zealand topping the table, citing a better net run rate. It will be England’s third consecutive appearance in the semifinals of ICC T20 World Cup.

Moeen Ali’s comments on India after of semifinal matchup

Speaking on the BBC’s Test Match Special, Moeen Ali went on to share how India has performed in the tournament. The 35-year-old also goes on to share how his team can still “pull it off” in the semifinal clash against Men in Blue at the Adelaide Oval.

Moeen Ali is quoted saying, “England are the underdogs. India have been playing fantastic over the last year and even if you look at the tournament they have been playing really well. I don’t think we have to be honest, we have been a little behind, but hopefully, we can pull it off.”

England entered into the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 as favourites to win the competition. Despite a small blip in form which resulted in a loss to Ireland, Jos Buttler’s men have fared well in the tournament. They managed to qualify for the semifinals of the World Cup 2022 after recording a narrow win against Sri Lanka in their final Super 12 game.

A better net rate than Australia gave them the edge over the hosts, who also had seven points against their name at the end of the Super 12 stage. England is justifying the tag of being ‘favourites’ with all departments firing all cylinders. The likes of Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Mark Wood have shined so far, playing a curial role in the team’s success.

Their next big assignment sees them take on the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team on 10th November in the second semifinal at the Adelaide Oval. Group 1 table toppers New Zealand will play Pakistan in the first semifinal, which will be played on 9th November at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
