The England Cricket Board (ECB) has announced a 15-member squad for the highly anticipated T20 World Cup. The ICC event is all set to be played in Australia from 16th October onwards. The 15-member squad sees the return of England’s Test captain Ben Stokes with the likes of Chris Woakes and Mark Wood also making a comeback to the squad after recovering from their respective injuries.
Despite being called up for the T20 World Cup, Stokes is set to miss The Three Lions’ tour to Pakistan. England are set to play the Men in Green on home turf for the first time since 2005. the seven-match tour of Pakistan is the last tournament England plays before heading to Australia for the ICC World Cup.

White ball captain Jos Buttler is recovering from a calf injury which he sustained while featuring in the Hundred. He is set to join the team in the latter stages of the Pakistan tour with Moeen Ali set to lead the side in his absence. Chris Woakes and Mark Wood are named in England’s squad for that tour and will be a part of the 19-player squad.
The English cricket board has made some bold decisions while selection their World Cup squad. While Jason Roy misses out, It remains interesting how a few players will perform at the ICC event. Ben Stokes will be in the lime light as he heads to the World Cup without any T20I game time in the last 18 months. The Three Lions have the likes of Woakes, Stokes, and Wood in the team with neither of the trio playing any international or domestic T20 game in 2022.
The likes of Liam Livingstone and Chris Jordan, who have been called up for England’s World Cup squad are also set to miss the Pakistan tour. The duo is recovering from their respective injuries and are expected to be fit for the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
Jos Buttler’s men will be looking forward to making a strong case in the mega event. England have also named three traveling reserves for the World Cup. Tymal Mills, Liam Dawson and Richard Gleeson are set to travel with the Three Lions to Australia for the ICC T20 tournament.
