17:40 PM IST: Jos Buttler on winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2022! 

The English skipper says, ” Really proud of everyone here. It’s been a fantastic tournament. We went to Pakistan before coming here, which was a valuable time for the group. he has fitted in really well. Huge swing in the game, fantastic over from Adil. Has been outstanding for us in the last three games, just the guy who makes things happen.”

He added, “When you hit a length there is some movement. We managed to get away to a start but it wasn’t easy. Ben Stokes just perfect at the end. He is the ultimate competitor in anything he does. Has the experience as well. That phase with Moeen Ali, just took it away from Pakistan.”

17:35 PM IST: Babar Azam speaks his mind!

The Pakistan skipper is quoted saying, “Congratulations to England, they fought well. I just told the boys to play our natural game, but we fell 20 runs short and the boys fought well with the ball. Unfortunately Shaheen’s injury put us off, but that’s part of the game.”

17:30 PM IST: Sam Curran bags multiple awards!

The youngster wins the the player of the match as well as the player of the series award for his performances in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022!  Here’s what he had to say, ” I don’t think I should be getting this, I think Ben Stokes should get this (PoTM.). I mixed it up with slower balls to make it tough for the batter. Incredibly special. Azaming crowd. I wanted to be adaptable coming into the tournament. Needed to be good with the bat too. How good is it to be a World Champ!”

17:21 PM IST: BEN STOKES on being World Champions

Ben Stokes said, “In finals especially when chasing.. you probably forget all the hard work before that, how we bowled, Adil Rashid and Sam Curran won us the game. It was a tricky wicket and one that you never felt in, so to restrict them to 130-odd bowlers have to take a lot of credit for that.”

He added,  ” In tournaments like these you can’t carry baggage with you, that was a little blip on the way, credit to Ireland for turning up and beating us, but the best teams learn from their mistakes and not let it affect them. Representing your country in World Cups is amazing.. but it has been a good one. 

17:16 PM IST: English Players have their Say 

Moeen Ali: This is one of my best days of cricketing career. It was a pleasure to win against a brilliant Pakistan side. It is just about keeping my intent. Stokesy played some great shots.

Harry Brook : I always thought we could win this WC with this squad. It was a phenomenal day.

Alex Hales: Incredibly great feeling. This is the icing on the cake. I did take my time. They are a high quality bowling attack. My feet were coming in the way. Was a decent delivery

Moeen Ali: This is one of my best days of cricketing career. It was a pleasure to win against a brilliant Pakistan side. It is just about keeping my intent. Stokesy played some great shots.

Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali eke out 5 runs of Haris Rauf’s over citing some excellent running between the wickets!

16:57 PM IST: Moeen Ali gets going!

Moeen Ali smashes 2 back to back boundaries against Mohammad Wasim Jr with the last ball also running away  to the fence. England now need just 12 runs off the last 18 balls! 

16:53 PM IST: All about pressure!

Shaheen Afridi, who came to bowl the 16th over walks back citing an citing his injury.Iftikhar Ahmed, who came in to bowl is smashed for a four and a six of the final 2 balls of the over by Ben Stokes! 

16:43 PM IST: Last 6 overs!

Naseem Shah ends his spell, conceding just 30 runs off his full quota! Just 2 runs off the last overs as England bow 49  off the remaining 36 balls!

16:36 PM IST: Shadab gets Brook!

Brook hits the flighted delivery outside off stump, flat to long-off as Shaheen Afridi takes the catch! Pakistan are still in the game! 87-4 after 13 overs! England need 51 off 42 balls!

16:31 PM IST: Excellent bowling!

Naseem Shah has been excellent against the likes of Brooks and Stokes here. 5 dots balls of the 12th over! England are 82-3  

16:27 PM IST: Pakistan desperate for wickets?

Naseem Shah has been brought in to bowl the 12th over by Azam. Pakistan needs to get going now and put the pressure on England here. Excellent bowling by Shah here. 5 dots balls of the overs 

16:20 PM IST: Halfway stage!

England are well poised in the game needing just 61 of 60 balls while having seven wickets in hand!  However all is not lost for Pakistan as a couple of wickets can change the whole situation!

16:15 PM IST: 9 overs gone!

After a delay which saw England Physio attend Brook and do some checks on him, the over was resumed ! eight runs come of the over as England are 69-3 at the end of 9 overs

16:10 PM IST: Agree to disagree?

With the scoreboard seeing England sit at 61-3 at the end of eight overs, Pakistan fans want their captain to set aggressive fields and look for wickets, citing their opponent’s dangerous batting depth.

16:05 PM IST: Even contest so far

England are sitting at 54-3 at the end of seven overs with Ben Stokes and Harry Brooks at the crease for them! Meanwhile Haris Rauf is not on the field for Pakistan.

15:59 PM IST: Rauf gets Buttler!

The Pakistani pacer forces Buttler to drive at the ball, resulting in a thick edge, going straight into the hands of the keeper! England lose their third wicket!

Despite being beaten thrice on the outside edge by Naseem Shah, Jos Buttler hits a massive six over  over fine leg!  43-2 after 5 overs. 

15:46 PM IST: Rauf gets Salt!

Phil Salt has to make the long walk back to the hut as Iftikhar Ahmed takes an easy catch at short mid-wicket. Haris Rauf gets the wicket! 

15:43 PM IST: Review taken!

Afridi forces Babar into to take a a needless review, which is not wasted due to an umpire’s call against Phil Salt. Buttler continues to play aggressively. 28-1 after three overs!

15:35 PM IST: Buttler gets going!

Three boundaries come in the second over of the game which was bowled by Naseem Shah as England move to 21-1 after 12 balls!

15:31 PM IST: Ohhh what a start!

Shaheen Afridi takes the first new ball against the English opening duo of Buttler and Hales!  He gets the wicket of Hales on the last ball of the over! What a ball! Cleans up the English opener completely 

15:20 PM IST: Fan reactions after the first innings

Despite being a low total, Pakistan fans are optimistic that this team can defend it. Remains interesting to see what awaits us in the second innings.

The English bowler sends Muhammad Nawaz packing as Liam Livingstone takes the catch to get his team the seventh wicket.

15:04 PM IST: England chipping in the wickets!

Shadab Khan tries to go big but holds out to Woakes as Chris Jordan gets a wicket! Excellent bowling by the English pacers to contain the Pak batters in the death overs so far. 127-6 at the end of the 18th over!

Shan Masood is caught by Livingstone in the deep!! Sam Curran’s has shown why he has been Buttler’s go-to bowler in the tournament! 3 runs and a wicket off the over 122-5 with 18 balls left in the first innings!

14:53 PM IST: Stokes proves to be expensive !

Bowling his final over of the game, the English allrounder lets go of 13 runs, ending with figures of 4-0-32-1.  The Men in Green are 119-4 after 16 overs!  

14:48 PM IST: Shan handling the mantle!

The middle order batter has fare well in the contest so far scoring 34 off 23 balls already! 15 overs gone with Pakistan sitting at 106-4

14:42 PM IST: Rashid Khan’s spell comes to an end

The Sipper ends with figures of 4-1-22-2 in the ICC T20 World Cup final! Top quality bowling against an solid opposition! 98-4 after 14 overs. 

14:35 PM IST: Ben Stokes joins the action

The English all rounder gets the wicket of Iftikhar Ahmed who edges the ball straight back to Jos Buttler, with the  skipper taking an easy regulation catch! 90-4 after 13 overs.

14:30 PM IST: Rashid you beauty!

The English spinner gets the wicket of Babar Azam with an excellent caught and bowled! A Wicket-Maiden OVER! Pakistan are 84-3 after 12 overs.

14:27 PM IST: Shan Masood takes charge!

Shan Masood hits Liam Livingstone for a four and follows it up with a six! 16 runs off the over!

14:23 PM IST: Halfway stage

Sitting at 68/2 at the end of 10 overs, Pakistan are comfortable in the game. However, they surely need to play faster and get themselves to a competitive score against a side like England.  

14:17 PM IST: Expensive start by Jordan

The English pacers concedes 9 runs off his first over!  Pakistan looking to play a little more aggressively now.

14:12 PM IST: Adil Rashid strikes!

Jos Buttler introduces spin into the attack and sees Adil Rashid get rid off Mohammad Haris on the very first ball! Pakistan are 50-2 at the end of the eighth over.

The final clash sees England take on Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This fixture is set to be played on 13th November 2022 and handed a kick-off time at 1: 30 PM IST.

After thrashing India in the second semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022, England’s morale is high. T20 World Cup 2022 was a roller coaster ride, where the hosts were eliminated instead of winning three games. On the other hand, Pakistan, who were out of the tournament, qualified for the semi-finals and defeated New Zealand to become the first team to march into the season finale.

Both Pakistan and England had played plenty of games together, but when it came to T20 World Cup, England met Pakistan two times in the contest, where the Red Army defeated Pakistan twice. The way England played against India, they can easily outplay Pakistan and are on the upper edge in the contest.
