Does Rahul Dravid Echo Sanjay Banger’s Opinion Ahead Of The 3rd T20?

The Indian cricket team is all set to take the field against South Africa for the third T20 International match scheduled for today. Heading into the game on the brink of two consecutive losses, former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has expressed his opinion on the playing XI ahead of this game.

The Rishabh Pant-led side has failed to deliver match winning performances against South Africa in the last two matches. The Men in Blue could not restrict the SA batters after registering a mammoth total of 211 in the first T20I match. Their tale of poor bowling performances continued during the second outing as the Indian spinners were taken to the cleaners, handing India a back to-back loss.

Former Indian national team coach Sanjay Bangar was seen suggesting a couple of changes that could help India bounce back in the winning ways at Visakhapatnam. The Indian batting coach expressed his thoughts of seeing a couple of changes to the playing XI hoping to see Rahul Dravid rope in Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi in the team.

Earlier, Bangar was quoted by Star Sports saying, “We have a lot of options for the first six overs, so we can try out Arshdeep in place of Avesh Khan. Who can be played in place of Axar Patel? One option can be to play Bishnoi. If two wrist-spinners can give wickets to the Indian team in the middle overs, then they can break the momentum slightly.”

Bangars’ opinion can be backed by the fact that the Indian duo have been poor in the previous two outings. While Khan managed to bowl decent spells, his inability to pick up wickets has affected India’s outing with the ball. Similarly, Axar Patel also failed to register a dismissal in the last two games while conceding over 40 and 19 runs from just five overs.

On the other hand, the likes of Singh and Bishnoi were called up to the national team after eye-catching performances in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). With Khan and Patel struggling to get going so far, Dravid and co will surely look to make a few chances and get the team back on the right track. With a plethora of talent available at Pant’s disposal, it would be interesting to see if Dravid opts to make changes to the team sheet for their 3rd T20 clash of the ongoing tour at Visakhapatnam.
