England women team’s regular captain Heather Knight has accused Deepti Sharma of ‘lying’ about the claims the India bowler made regarding the ‘Mankading’ incident on Saturday. Charlie Dean was was run out at the non-striker’s end when England’s scoreboard read 115-9. The English star scoring 47 runs, before Sharma took the bails off and to seal the win.
Sharma, who landed in Kolkata alongside her team members revealed that the Mankad incident was a plan formulated by the visitors after giving warnings to Dean. She stated, “It was a plan, because we had warned her [for leaving the crease early] repeatedly. We did things as per the rules and guidelines. We told the umpires as well, but she was there [outside the crease]. We couldn’t do much.”

Heather Knight missed the series due to the hip surgery. She has taken to Twitter and refuted the Indian bowlers claims stating that the visitors had not warned Dean. She wrote, “The game is over, Charlie was dismissed legitimately. India were deserved winners of the match and the series. But no warnings were given. They don’t need to be given, so it hasn’t made the dismissal any less legitimate.”
“But if they’re comfortable with the decision to affect the run out, India shouldn’t feel the need to justify it by lying about warnings,” Knight further added.

The Mankad dismissal has caught the limelight as the visitors pocketed a 16-run win to whitewash England and register a 3-0 series sweep at the Lords cricket ground. Indian team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, spoke on the indecent as well and claimed how no ‘crime’ was committed.
She said, “Today, whatever we have done, I don’t think it was any crime. It is part of the game and is an ICC rule, and I think we just need to back our player. I’m actually very happy she [Deepti Sharma] was aware of that, and the batter is taking too long a stride. I don’t think she has done something wrong.”
