Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has backed Arshdeep Singh to do well ahead of the highly anticipated Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup. The young Indian speedster emerged on the international stage after solid performances in the Indian Premier League.
He has been performing in India’s domestic T20 franchise-based competition for over 2 seasons and finally breakthrough in the T20I squad to play his first game for the Men in Blue against England. Arshdeep made a name for himself as a death overs specialist. The Punjab based speedster is also known for his well-disguised yorkers and economical spells at the end of an innings.
His potential has been called as the next big thing with Danish Kaneria calling the left-arm speedster a solid valuable asset to the team. The former Pakistani spinner feels that the Punjab Kings bowler’s inclusion will be a big plus for India, who are preparing 2 major tournaments this year. He claims how the youngster can bowl sensibly while also knowing how to take wickets with Danish Kaneria also seen backing the bowler to do well at the Asia Cup.
Speaking on his official YouTube channel, the former cricketer goes on to make a bold statement. Danish Kaneria feels that the young speedster will not only play the final ODI against West Indies but also have a impact on the game.
The 41-year-old said, “Mark my words. Arshdeep will play the third ODI and make an impact too. Arshdeep has the art, and he uses his mind while bowling. He bowls sensibly and knows how to take wickets. He can be a fantastic option for the Indian team for T20 World Cup and maybe for Asia Cup as well. Asia Cup will be held in Dubai and he can be successful being a left-arm pacer.”

The 23-year-old kicked off his international career with a bang against England. He returned with figures of 2/18 from 3.3 overs while also bowling a maiden during his T20I debut against England. Rahul Dravid and the Indian team management will be eager to expose the youngster to more competitive cricket and prepare him for the T20 World Cup.
The ICC event is less than three months away and the speedster is expected to be a part the Indian contingent flying to Australia. The 23 year old’s upcoming assignment will see him be a part of the Indian team that’s scheduled to take play five T20Is against the Caribbean outfit.
