Based on the story of former South African cricket team captain Hansie Cronje, It is a movie that was released on 24th September 2008. This movie featured Frank Rautenbach as Hansie Cronje and depicted the rise and fall of a tarnished hero. Made in South Africa, it also gave fans a lot of insights about the fixing scandal.

Directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Viacom18 Studios, Shabaash Mithu is the biopic based on Mithali Raj! The former Indian Women’s team skipper is one of the most recognized cricketers who inspired a lot of female cricketers in the country as well as the world Taapsee Pannu starred in the movie playing the role of Mithali Raj while also making the first ever biopic of a female cricketer.
After Mithali Raj, yet another female cricketer from India is all set to get her biopic. Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has announced her new movie named Chakda Xpress. The Bollywood star is all set to portray the role of former Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami. The actress regularly shares snippets and updates of herself, enacting the former Indian Women’s team star. It will also be the first project Anushka has been working on since the birth of her first child Vamika.
Written-directed by MS Sripathy, the film titled “800”, is the biopic of Sri Lankan cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan. Announced on the occasion of the spinner’s 51st birthday, the biopic “800” is named after the number of wickets Muralidaran took in his Test career.
Earlier, Actor Vijay Sethupathi was set to play the role of the cricketer in the biopic before he withdrew from the project in 2020. The latest poster of this Tamil film sees Slumdog Millionaire actor Madhurr Mittal portrays the role of the world-renowned spinner, with the movie set to be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages.
Former cricket star and pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar was all set to have a biopic on him, with the movie named “Rawalpindi Express” based on his nickname. Despite the movie being announced, Akhtar announced that he had parted ways with the movie, citing a violation of the agreement. The fast blower disassociated him from the film Rawalpindi Express by terminating the agreement, leading the project to disappointment.
This list seemed empty without mentioning Sachin: A Billion Dreams. Despite not being a movie, this documentary is not a biopic on Indian Icon Sachin Tendulkar. This documentary entails the journey of a young player from Mumbai to becoming the most famous name in cricket. It consists of archival footage, re-enactments and clips of his family, friends and colleagues and acts as the perfect tribute to the ‘God of Cricket’.
