Cricketers Who Support Taliban: Cricket Australia was scheduled to tour Afghanistan for three ODI series in the United Arab Emirates in March 2023. Cricket Australia announced Thursday that it had decided to cancel the three-game series following “extensive consultation” with all relevant parties, including the Australian government. The series was scheduled to take place in March.
The teams were scheduled to play one another in a Test match in November 2021, but the match was cancelled after the Taliban took control in August. Since the Taliban took over, Afghanistan has continued participating in ICC events. Last year, they faced Australia in the T20 World Cup, losing by four runs.
The moment the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, fans across the globe came to know that Cricket would somehow die in Afghanistan. A team like Australia backing up to play for diplomatic reasons is something any cricketing board would not like. Shockingly, plenty of Afghani cricketers have displayed outrage and decided to boycott Big Bash League 2023. Please look at the list of players who are not happy with Cricket Australia and are supporting the Taliban for their restrictions on women’s and girls’ rights.

Looking at his outrage on Twitter, the fact is not at all hidden that Naveen ul Haq Murid follows the Taliban. Where following someone is not a big deal, but you must remember that if you follow someone, you follow their ideologies. Naveen ul Haq on Twitter stated that “Time to say we won’t be participating in big bash after this until they stop these childish decisions. That’s how they went about the one-off test now, ODI when a country is going through so much in place of being supportive, you want to take the only reason of happiness from them.”

Indeed one of the finest all-rounders in the world, Shahid Afridi, is someone who single-handedly dominated the white ball cricket for Pakistan. Afridi, one of the most reputed cricketers in the world, does not support women playing Cricket! Yes, you heard it right, a Pakistani legend does not want his daughter to play Cricket because of social and religious matters. In an interview, Afridi stated that his daughters are allowed to play any indoor games they want, but there is a red line when it comes to Cricket.
Afridi’s statement: “Cricket? No, not for my girls. They have permission to play all the indoor games they want, but my daughters will not compete in public sporting activities. I’ve made this decision for social and religious reasons, and their mother agrees with me. The feminists can say what they want; I’ve made my decision as a conservative Pakistani father.” I am not saying that Afridi is someone who backs the Taliban, but in a world to explore why women are dragged behind because of social or religious reasons?
Why only cricketers? Anyone who slaughters her daughter’s desires for sports is backing the Taliban. Reasons can be anything, agreed, but it is not expected if someone declares his daughter can’t play Cricket because of social and religious considerations.
