KXIP batted first, and Gayle put in a monstrous performance, scoring 99 runs in 64 balls at a strike rate of 154.7 without losing his wicket to help his team set a target of 174 for Royal Challengers Bangalore to try and chase down. RCB batted first, and while Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers contributed, Gayle was the stand-out player and scored 107 runs in 49 balls at a strike rate of 218.4.
