Check Out Why India’s 2nd T20I Against WI Is Delayed By 2 Hours

India’s second T20I clash during their ongoing 5 match series against West Indies has been postponed by two hours due to “significant delays in crucial team luggage arriving into St Kitts from Trinidad.” The delayed game will be played at Warner Park in St Kitts, on 1st August as scheduled earlier.

Both the teams were set to see the game kick off at 10.30am local time. However, the 2nd T20I is now expected to start at 12.30pm local time. Cricket West Indies (CWI) released a statement announcing the delay of the 2nd T20I. It read, “Due to circumstances beyond CWI’s control, there have been significant delays in crucial team luggage arriving into St Kitts from Trinidad. As a result, today’s 2nd Goldmedal T20 Cup match is due to start at 12:30 pm (11:30am Jamaica/10pm India). CWI regrets any inconvenience caused to our valued fans, sponsors, broadcast partners and all other stakeholders.”

The Men in Blue played the first game at Trinidad where they registered a massive 68 run win owing to an all-round performance by the team. India’s all format captain Rohit Sharma topped the scoring charts for the visitors as the opener hit 64 in 44 balls after being asked to bat.

Dinesh Karthik has been establishing himself as a specialist finisher in the shortest format of the game. The veteran wicket keeper remained not out on 41, while getting to the score in just 19 balls helping India post a competitive total of 190 on board.

West Indies, on the other end, could manage to score just 122 in their quota of 20 overs as the Men in Blue kept their lines tight and came up with a solid bowling performance. All the Indian bowlers registered economies below 6.50 while picking up timely wickets. The likes of Arshdeep Singh, R Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi picked up two wickets each while Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar got  1 wicket in the first T20I.

India finds themselves 1-0 up in the five-match series and will be eager to keep the momentum going in Basseterre, where they played the 2nd and the 3rd T20. After the third game, both the teams will play the remaining 2 matches of the ongoing white ball series in the USA, with the 4th and 5th T20 scheduled to be played in Lauderhill, Florida.
