India is all set to host the ICC ODI World Cup in 2023. It will be the first time that India will be the solo hosts of the tournament with the subcontinental side earlier co -hosting three World Cups, in 1987, 1996, and 2011 alongside either of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have a lot of work to do in order to successfully host the ICC mega event. The ten-team tournament was slated to take place from 9 February to 26 March 2023. However, the ICC ODI World Cup is now set to be played in October-November as the qualifiers had to be postponed due to the COVID-19.
Arun Dhumal, the treasurer of the BCCI, shared his thoughts about the upcoming ICC event. He stated how the Indian cricket board is yet to finalize sites for the mega tournament. However, he goes on to reveal that the spectators can expect to enjoy top-level amenities at several locales during the upcoming mega event.
The BCCI treasurer also went to explain all the “challenges” the Indian cricket board could face while planning the matches far ahead. Speaking to seasoned journalist Vimal Kumar, Dhumal was quoted saying, “Yes, we do have some challenges here in India. We are not able to plan in such a way that we schedule the fixtures one year in advance. Like it happens in Australia and England as sometimes we have to change the venue from one state to another at the last moment due to weather.”

He goes on to add, “Sometimes these challenges remain. So, we are trying that we can recover from those challenges.” “And the experience that fans are seeking, be it on ground or from TV, that is now our top priority. We are trying that the next World Cup, we will make sure that the fans must get an incredible experience.”
The BCCI treasurer also spoke about the impact the tournament will have on the stakeholders who will be involved while hosting the ICC event. He said, “And we are asking and taking opinions from everyone, all the stakeholders. The state associations and the officials who have traveled with the team. So, we can provide a world-class experience to the fans. “I want to assure you that you will feel the difference next year in October and November,”
