The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been rumoured to have determined its venue for the highly anticipated auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to various reports, the upcoming IPL auction might be conducted overseas instead of in India, with Istanbul most likely to be the venue.
Cricbuzz has reported about the possibility of seeing the Indian cricket board shift the auction from its’ regular venue to Turkey this year. The BCCI has often conducted the IPL auction in Bengaluru over the last few years, and the place continues to be an option for the board to host the auction. However, there are chances that the BCCI might shift the auction overseas this time around.
The administration is said to be in discussion with the IPL franchises over the location of the auction, with an official word same expected to be shared in the first week of November. Earlier, the BCCI was reported to host one of its auctions in London a few years ago.

However, they had to cancel the idea with many franchises against the move. However, following the massive influx of money following the new media rights deal, it is being reported that teams are now more open to the idea of conducting the auction overseas.
The BCCI has gone through a lot of changes over the last month. The IPL has a new chairman as Arun Singh Dhumal took over from Brijesh Patel following the BCCI’s annual general meeting in October. The IPL auction 2022 will be the first major event taking place under Patel.
Another big news saw Sourav Ganguly not being re-elected as the BCCI chief president, with former India cricketer Roger Binny taking over from the ex-Indian captain. However, Jay Shah continues to operate as the joint BCCI secretary.
Ganguly is said to have wanted to contest for the position of Cricket Association of Bengal after he left his seat at the helm of the BCCI. However, according to the latest update the former BCCI president backed out, allowing his brother Snehashish Ganguly to win the election uncontested.
