17:04 PM IST: Aaron Finch comments on the win

Finch, “It wasn’t the easiest wicket, it was a lot slower than what we expected. They changed their pace really well and bowled a lot of cutters. we did well to get 180. T20 is a high risk game, sometimes you get it off the middle and sometimes you don’t.”

16:52 PM IST: Massive win for Australia

Joshua Little is run out as the hosts record a massive 42 run win over Ireland in this game. Australia will be quite happy with their performance, but could have won with a much bigger margin.  

16:48 PM IST: Aus are 1 wicket away

Cummins get wicket of McCarthy at a crucial stage. It is mostly importantly a dot ball. Joshua Little walks out to bat.  Pressure mounting on Ireland here. They need 43 off the last 12 balls. 

16:43 PM IST: Tucker is taking the game on

Tucker scores two back to back boundaries against Starc before running a double and scoring a boundary once again. 18 Runs off the over! Ireland need 44 runs off the last three overs.

The Irish batter gets to his 50 with a massive six against Hazlewood. He has been a lone warrior for his team here. 118-8 after 16 overs.

16:35 PM IST: Zampa gets his second

The Aussie spinner cleans up Fionn Hand to get his second wicket of the innings. Ireland find themselves languishing at 106 for 8 after 15 overs. Zampa ends with figures of 4-0-19-2

Adair walks down the ground but fails to get to the pitch. Wade completes the stumping to send Adair back in the hut. 7th wicket down. Ireland are 95/7 after 13 overs.

Pat Cummins fails to lay his hand on the ball after calling for it. Tucker survives as Starc missed to get his third wicket of the innings.  

16:13 PM IST: Halfway stage

Ireland are 73/6 at the end of 10 overs. They will be eager to stay as deep as they can in this game. Australia on the other hand will be eying to improve their NRR.

16:07 PM IST: Stoinis gets the breakthrough

Gareth Delany 14(10) is back in the hut as Glen Maxwell completes the catch. Australia are looking to end the game as soon as possible. 

16:03 PM IST: Zampa into the attack

Ireland are 62-5 at the end of 8 overs as Australia turn to Adam Zampa. It is also worth noting that Aaron Finch is not on the field citing an injury resulting in Matthew Wade captaining the side. 

15:57 PM IST: Turning up the heat

Delany and Tucker take on Maxwell and score eight runs off the over. A show of some excellent batting intent from the duo. 57 runs from 7 overs.

The Irish batter scores two back to back fours against Starc off the first two balls, before the Aussie star manages to bowl a few dots. Delany to joins in the action and gets a boundary off the last ball. 49-5 after powerplay.

Tucker is looking to take on the Australian bowlers, but the hosts are too hot to handle. 10 runs come of the 5th over. Ireland are 35-5 with one over left in powerplay

A typical Starc dismissal sees Dockrell make the long walk back to the hut. Ireland are 25-5 after 4 overs!

The Aussie speedster dismissed Curtis Campher for a golden duck. The hosts are on fire! 

15:35 PM IST: Australia start off well!

Ireland manage to score 7 runs of the first over against Hazlewood. Cummins comes in to bowl the second over and gets the wicket of Balbirnie 6(7) Finch introduces Glen Maxwell into the attack who also works the trick, getting the big wickets of Sterling and Tector in the same over. Ireland are 24-3 after 3 overs. 

15:11 PM IST: Australia end with 179 on board

Tim David and Matthew Wade manage to get 17 runs of Mark Adair’s over. Some great batting at the end propels Australia to a more than competitive total.

15:04 PM IST: Australia lose their fifth

Joshua Little gets Stoinis out as Dockrell completes the catch to send the Aussie star back in the hut. Australia are 162-5 after 19 overs. 

14:56 PM IST: McCarthy at it once again

Mark Adair take the catch as Finch 63(44) narrowly fails to clear the boundary. McCarthy gets his third wicket of the game. 17 overs gone 155-4

14:54 PM IST: 50 up for Finch 

The Aussie opener has managed to get his half century despite struggling to get going in the first half of the game.

14:48 PM IST: Stoinis and Finch pile up runs

The Aussie duo have managed to eke out 26 runs of Mark Adair’s over.

Barry McCarthy makes an unbelievable effort to stop a six and pushes the ball back into play at long-on!

The Aussie star take on Delany and smashes his for a four before following up with a huge six. He takes 2 runs of the next ball before handing the strike over to Finch. 16 runs of the over! Australia are 108-3

The Irish bowler has done very well in this game with his figures reading as 3-0-19-2. He has undoubtly been the best bowler in the first innings. 92-3 after 13 overs.

The dangerous Glen Maxwell is back in the hut as he edges the ball straight back to the Irish wicket keeper! Good bowling by Joshua Little. Marcus Stoinis comes out to bat. 84-3 after 11 overs.

Australia are 78-2 after the first 10 overs! Ireland will be happy with the two wickets but will have to contain the hosts to a low total if they want to win.

Delany has fared well keeping Maxwell quite with reviews sawing the Aussie all-rounder. Meanwhile, Finch continues to struggle and get going in the game so far.

The Ireland speedster claims the wicket of Mitch Marsh on yet another first ball of the over. Earlier, he had dismissed Warner on the first ball of his spell. Meanwhile, fans continue to compare McCarthy to Shane Watson.

Aaron Finch smashes Adair for a massive six over mid-wicket and follows it up with a four! Moves onto 23 off just 16 balls!

Dockrell failed to hit the stumps, and Finch was out if it had been a direct hit. Good bowling by Little. 6 runs of the fourth over.

Barry McCarthy gets the breakthrough for Ireland right after coming into the attack! Gets the wicket off his very first ball. successful over for Ireland! just six runs given and the big wicket of Warner.

The defending champions will see this clash as a virtual knockout, as a loss in this game will see Aaron Finch’s side fail to make it to the semi-finals of the tournament.

This Group 1 fixture in the Super 12 stages of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will be played on 31st October at the Gabba in Brisbane.
