The Nepal Cricket team created history on 27th September 2023, when they scored a massive 314/3 in T20I during the 19th Asian Games against Mongolia. This saw them break the previous record held by Afghanistan of scoring 278/3 vs Ireland.
A number of records were broken in the game, with the most significant one seeing Nepal cricketer Dipendra Singh Airee smash a 50 in 9 balls! Yes, you read it right: the batter managed to break Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh’s record.

It is worth noting that this was Mongolia’s debut in men’s cricket. They were recognized as an associate team only in 2021 by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Nepal finds itself slotted in Group A’ and is scheduled to play its second match against the Maldives. They will make it to the quarter-finals if they manage to retain the top position in the group.
The minnows could play either of the heavyweights in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, with all five countries sending their second-string teams for the Asian Games amid the highly anticipated ICC ODI 2023 World Cup.
