Asia Cup 2018: Pakistan waves white flag against India

Yesterday was the match that every cricket fan, specially of the two nations, wait for dearly because of the rivalry among the two. India faced off Pakistan in the group stages of the Asia Cup 2018 in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan won the toss and elected to set a target for the Indian side which at the time looked like the right way to go about it as the pitch looked just right for the batsmen to enjoy batting on but to everyone’s surprise, Pakistan just could not deliver.

The openers, both, lost their wickets within the first five overs of the innings at the hands of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. After losing two early wickets, Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik batted with intent to bail Pakistan out of the trouble. The duo shared 82 runs for the third wicket and helped stabilised Pakistan innings. Kuldeep Yadav then bowled Azam and that opened the gates once again for India. The defending champions then kept picking wickets at regular intervals and eventually bowled out Pakistan for just 162 runs. Kedar Jadhav dented Pakistan as he scalped three wickets for just 23 runs in his nine overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also picked three wickets while Jasprit Bumrah scalped with a couple of wickets.

With Pakistan managing a cheap total of 162 on such a surface, India never looked like missing one and it was later confirmed when they came out to bat and openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan racked 86 runs for the first wicket. Rohit, afetr starting off cautiously, got into the his comfort zone scoring his personal fastest 50 before getting out for 52 in the 14th over at the hands of Shadab Khan as the scoreboard read 86/1. 20 runs and 3 overs later Dhawan lost his wicket to Faheem Ashraf, missing his half century by 4 runs.

Rayadu and Karthik were the two men standing on the crease and the duo managed an unbeaten partnership of 60 runs as they took India the distance and both the batsmen finished the match with 31 runs scored respectively. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was awarded Man of The Match for his performance with the ball.
