Ashwin Smashes Kumble’s Record: Becomes India’s Highest Wicket-Taker in BGT

Ashwin Smashes Kumble’s Record: Becomes India’s Highest Wicket-Taker in BGT: Anil Kumble and Ravichandran Ashwin are two of India’s greatest spin bowlers, renowned for their ability to deceive batters with skill and guile. While Kumble was a stalwart of the Indian team in the 1990s and early 2000s, Ashwin has been a vital cog in the Indian side over the last decade.

Anil Kumble was a leg-spinner who played 132 Tests for India, taking 619 wickets at an average of 29.65. His standout performance came against Pakistan in 1999, when he took all ten wickets in an inning, becoming only the second bowler in Test history to achieve this feat. Kumble was known for his accuracy, subtle variations, and ability to extract bounce from the pitch. He was also a great competitor and a fierce fighter on the field.

On the other hand, R Ashwin is an off-spinner who is the fastest Indian bowler to reach 400 Test wickets, achieving the feat in just 77 matches. Ashwin has a wide variety of deliveries in his repertoire, including the carrom ball and the doosra, which he uses to outfox the batters. He is also a useful lower-order batsman and has scored four Test centuries for India.

Ashwin Smashes Kumble’s Record

Despite their different styles, Kumble and Ashwin have a lot in common. Both are highly respected and revered by their teammates and opponents alike. They are known for their work ethic, dedication to the game, and never-say-die attitude. They have also been excellent ambassadors of the game and have always conducted themselves professionally on and off the field.

Thanks to Ashwin’s exceptional bowling, he is all set to break Anil Kumble’s record and tops himself in the list of most wickets in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Kumble, in BGT, had played 38 innings, where the veteran picked 111 wickets with an economy of 3.09. On the other side, Ashwin is 12 wickets short of breaking this record and becoming the first Indian bowler in the history of the Border Gavaskar Trophy to break Kumble’s record.

Kumble and R Ashwin are two of India’s finest spin bowlers and have made immense contributions to the Indian cricket team. Their performances have inspired a generation of young cricketers, and their legacy will continue to inspire future generations of spin bowlers in India and worldwide.
