Arshdeep Singh caught the limelight for his antics during the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash in the super 4 stages of Asia Cup 2022. The speedster dropped an easy regulation catch in the second innings which proved to be a fateful blow for the Men in Blue.
India & Pakistan played out a high intensity thriller during their Super 4 clash in the Asia Cup as Babar Azam’s side registered a narrow five- wicket win on Sunday. One of the biggest talking points of the game came in the 18th over of the second innings. It saw Arshdeep Singh drop an easy catch off Ravi Bishnoi’s bowling which saw Asif Ali stay on the crease.

With his dropped catch seemingly a turning point in the game, cricket fans were seen abusing Arshdeep Singh by sharing memes, trolling him, with some even tagged the young seamer as ‘anti national.’ Despite all the hate and abuse, there were many who came in support of the young seamer. Fans claimed how everyone can make mistakes while urging others to look forward for the matches where Arshdeep Singh will perform.
Ex Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh came to the young seamers’ support after the clash. He tweeted, “Stop criticising young @arshdeepsinghh .. No one drop the catch purposely..we are proud of our boys .. Pakistan played better.. shame on such people who r putting our own guys down by saying cheap things on this platform bout arsh and team.. Arsh is GOLD..” Irfan Pathan also took to Twitter and shared that Arshdeep Singh is a strong character and should stay that way.

Chahal fails..fielders confused…bhuvi the senior pro leaking 19runs in 19th over… SKY flops..pandya flops with both bat n ball…Captain failing to motivate team n getting penalised fr slow over rate…how can 1 catch be responsible fr the loss #INDvsPAK2022 @BCCI #RohitSharma

Arshdeep’s drop catch will overshadow how poor Chahal was, how bad Bhuvi was in the 19th over and Rohits tactical blunder of not scrapping in few Hooda overs!
He dropped a catch but showed temperament even when 7 were needed of 6 balls!
Spare the young man!

The kind of hate 23 year old Arshdeep is being subjected to is appalling. Let us cut that young man some slack. Arshdeep is an amazing talent and will lead the Indian bowling attack in the coming years. No hate can pull him down. #IStandWithArshdeep pic.twitter.com/CL1o4oVSLD

Virat Kohli, who registered his second consecutive 50 in the Asia Cup also voiced his support for Arshdeep Singh. Speaking with the media during the post-match conference, he said, “Anyone can commit the mistake, the situation was tight. It was a high-pressure game and mistakes can happen. I still remember I was playing my first Champions Trophy and the match was against Pakistan, I had played a very bad shot against Shahid Afridi.”
“I was watching the ceiling till 5 am, I was not able to sleep and I thought my career was over but these things are natural. The players learn from their mistakes. So one must accept his mistake, address it and look forward to being in that pressure situation once again,” the 33 year old added.
