Ajay Jadeja SAID THIS On KL Rahul’s Performance Against Zimbabwe

Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja shared his thoughts on Indian opener KL Rahul citing how the team captain did not make the most of the opportunity during the match series. The Men in Blue registered a clean sweep against Zimbabwe in the three-match ODI series under the leadership of KL Rahul. While the 31-year-old earned praise for his leadership skills, Rahul failed to get going with the bat after making his return to the national team.

Rahul did not get a chance to bat in the first of the three ODIs as Subhman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan ensured India a 10-wicket win against the African nation. After not getting a chance to bat, the 31-year-old decided to open the innings. However, the move failed miserably for the Indian skipper as he ended up scoring just a single run in the second ODI. He bettered his performances in the third and final ODI and managed to score 30 in the first innings of the last game. With just 31 runs from two innings against a minnow like Zimbabwe, Rahul’s return did not go as expected.

Ajay Jadeja spoke on Rahul’s performance criticizing the batter’s inability to make most of the opportunities in the series. He said, “The only one who has probably gone home disappointed is the one who has fielded 110 overs and he thinks it’s 150. He didn’t get to bat enough and he has no one else to blame but himself – not choosing to bat the three times that you could have.”

The former Indian cricketer also went on to praise Shubman Gill with Ajay Jadeja stating how the young batter’s performances was one of the biggest positives for India in the series. The 22-year-old opened in the first ODI before batting at number three in the next two games.

“The biggest gain I think is Shubman, not just his batting but the versatility that he has shown. Even at No. 3, he has looked as comfortable. Shikhar Dhawan – good as usual, he is still doing what he did 10 years ago for you. Ishan Kishan – once he got in, he got run out. That’s not something you worry about so much” Ajay Jadeja said.
