Adil Rashid is all set to miss out on featuring in the white-ball series against India. The England spinner will remain unavailable for Yorkshire games as well with the 34-year-old travelling to Mecca. The spinner had expressed his wish to make the Hajj pilgrimage and has been granted leave by England Cricket Board (ECB). He is rumored to travel to the Middle East along with his wife this weekend.
Rashid recently featured for the Three Lions in their 3-0 win against the Netherlands. ESPNcricinfo has quoted him saying, “I’ve been wanting to do it for a little while. But I’ve found it difficult with the timings. I spoke to the ECB and Yorkshire about it, and they were very understanding and encouraging. They were like: ‘yep, you do what you’ve got to do and then come back when you can’.

He went on to add, “It’s a massive moment. Each faith has got their own different thing but for Islam and being a Muslim, this is one of the biggest ones. It’s a big thing for my faith and for myself. I knew that I needed to do it while I’m strong and healthy. This is something that I really committed to myself that I would do.”
The 34 year old spinner was seen heaping praise on skipper Eoin Morgan. He also thanked his team mates supporting him in this decision. Rashid did not shy away from crediting the ECB and Yorkshire as well for understanding his decision.

They are yet to announce his replacement in the team for the highly anticipated matches against India. The Men in Blue begin their tour with a one-off test match against the Three Lions. The 5th Test, which had to be postponed last year will finally be played in Edgbaston, Birmingham from July 1-5. Later on, England hosts India in three T20Is and starting on July 7 followed up with three One Day Internationals set to be played between July 12-17.
