Abhishek Sharma had two fabulous performances in the five-match T20I series between the Indian cricket team and the England cricket team. The first of these two performances came on 22nd January 2025 in the first game of the series, which took place in Kolkata at the Eden Gardens stadium. Abhishek managed to score 79 runs in 34 balls at a strike rate of 232.35 to help India chase down the target of 133 in just 12.5 overs and win the game by seven wickets with 43 balls left. This helped the Indian cricket team take a crucial lead in the series.
While this performance was spectacular, the real blinder that Abhishek played in this series came in the fifth and last T20 game of the series, which took place in Mumbai at the Wankhede stadium. India batted first, and Abhishek Sharma decided to come out swinging right from the start. Losing the wicket of Sanju Samson did not seem to faze or slow Abhishek Sharma at all, and he kept on hitting both in the powerplay and even when the powerplay ended, proving his intention to continue hitting no matter the circumstances.

The highest scorer aside from Abhishek Sharma was Shivam Dube, who made 30 runs, while five Indian batsmen ended their inning in single digits. However, despite this, India managed to reach a massive target of 248 for the England cricket team to chase down. This was possible only because of Abhishek Sharma’s ridiculous performance. While the rest of the Indian squad struggled to reach a high score, Abhishek hit a massive 135 runs in just 54 balls at a strike rate of 250, hammering each and every one of England’s bowlers.

Abhishek Sharma’s 135 runs included seven fours and a massive 13 sixes, which saw him break the record for most sixes hit by an Indian batsman in a T20I match. This speaks to the attacking mindset that Abhishek Sharma bats with and why he has the ability to become one of the most formidable players for the Indian cricket team. His ball-striking ability is second to none, and he makes hitting sixes look extremely easy. While a case can be made that Abhishek’s teammates were simply looking to rotate the strike and get him back on strike, one thing is certain, i.e., Abhishek Sharma showed absolutely no signs of slowing down.
The Indian batsman kept hammering every England bowler before Adil Rashid got the better of him on the last ball of the 18th over. However, by the time England could pick his wicket, the damage had already been done. The Indian cricket team set a massive target of 248 for England to chase down. The pressure of such a huge target turned out to be too much for England to handle, and while they tried to achieve this run chase by swinging, India waited for exactly this and picked their wickets one after the other. The Indian bowling managed to bowl out England for just 97 runs and won the final T20I game by a huge margin of `150 runs.
