10. 79 Against Rajasthan Royals (17/05/2009)

AB de Villiers put in one of his best-ever performances against the Rajasthan Royals on 17th May 2009. Delhi Daredevils batted first, but both openers, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag, got out very cheaply. AB de Villiers stepped in at number three to steady the ship and did so brilliantly. He scored 79 runs in 55 balls at a strike rate of 143.6 without losing his wicket to help the Delhi Daredevils reach a respectable score of 150. While this score was quite low, the Daredevils managed to pick up multiple early wickets and restricted Rajasthan Royals to 136, winning the game by 14 runs.

10. 79 Against Gujarat Lions (24/05/2016)

AB de Villiers put in an incredible shift in the Indian Premier League against the Gujarat Lions on 24th May 2016. Gujarat Lions batted first, and a good bowling performance by the Royal Challengers Bangalore helped restrict them to 158. Dwayne Smith ended up being the only player to perform for Gujarat Lions, scoring 73 runs. While RCB thought they would easily win, Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shane Watson, and Sachin Baby all lost their wickets very cheaply. However, AB de Villiers managed to step up and scored 79 runs in 47 balls at a strike rate of 168.1 without losing his wicket to help RCB win the game in 18.2 overs.

The game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad, which took place on 12th April 2016, saw De Villiers put in a brilliant shift. Royal Challengers Bangalore batted first, and while Chris Gayle got out after scoring just one run, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers managed to build a brilliant partnership. Kohli scored 75 runs in 51 balls, while AB de Villiers scored 82 runs in 42 balls at a strike rate of 195.2 to help RCB score a huge score of 227. Sunrisers Hyderabad tried their best to chase this score down, but despite their best efforts, RCB managed to restrict them to 182 runs and won the game by a huge margin of 45 runs.

8. 82 Against King XI Punjab (24/04/2019)

AB de Villiers made one of his highest IPL scores against the Kings XI Punjab on 24th April 2019. Royal Challengers Bangalore batted first, and once again, AB de Villiers stepped in at number three to steady RCB’s inning. The South Africa batsman scored 82 runs in 44 balls at a strike rate of 186.4 without losing his wicket to help the RCB set a target of 203 for the KXIP to try and chase down. IPL side, Kings XI Punjab, put in a good fight, with players like KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran trying their best to chase down this score. However, RCB were able to restrict them to 185 and won the game by 17 runs.

7. 83 Against Rising Pune Supergiant (22/04/2016)

Another brilliant performance was put in by AB de Villiers in the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rising Pune Supergiant on 22nd April 2016. RCB batted first, and while KL Rahul lost his wicket, having scored just seven runs, AB de Villiers stepped in at number three and formed a formidable partnership with Virat Kohli. Kohli scored 80 runs in 63 balls, while AB de Villiers scored 83 runs in 46 balls at a strike rate of 180.4 to help RCB set a target of 186. Rising Pune Supergiant tried their best to chase it down but only managed to score 172 runs in 20 overs, and RCB won the game by a margin of 13 runs.

5. 89 Against Sunrisers Hyderabad (04/05/2014)

AB de Villiers’ performance on 4th May 2014 helped the Royal Challengers Bangalore win a narrow match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on 4th May 2014. Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first, and a good bowling performance by the Royal Challengers Bangalore helped them restrict SRH to a low total of 155. While the total was low, RCB struggled to get going, and it looked like they would be in trouble. However, AB de Villiers came in at number five and put in a master performance. He scored 89 runs in 41 balls at a strike rate of 217.1 without losing his wicket to help the Royal Challengers Bangalore win the game in the second last ball of the final over.

5. 89 Against Kings XI Punjab (10/04/2017)

AB de Villiers played another fabulous inning on 10th April 2017, in a game between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Kings XI Punjab. RCB batted first, and while Shane Watson, Vishnu Vinod, and Kedar Jadhav all lost their wickets early, AB de Villiers managed to steady the ship with a brilliant performance. The South African star scored 89 runs in 46 balls at a strike rate of 193.5 without losing his wicket to help RCB reach a decent target of 148. However, this performance was all in vain as KXIP managed to chase this target down very easily, doing so in 14.3 overs and winning the game with eight wickets in hand and 33 balls to spare.

4. 90 Against Delhi Daredevils (21/04/2018)

AB de Villiers played an absolute blinder in the Indian Premier League on 21st April 2018 in a game between the Delhi Daredevils and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. DD batted first, and good performances by Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant saw them set a target of 175 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore to try and chase down. While RCB lost the wicket of Manan Vohra quite early, Virat Kohli and Quinton de Kock did not manage to do too well, and AB de Villiers played an insane game. The South African scored 90 runs in 39 balls at a strike rate of 230.8 without losing his wicket to help RCB chase the score down in 18 overs and win.

3. 105 Against Chennai Super Kings (23/04/2009)

AB de Villiers’ first century in the Indian Premier League came against the Chennai Super Kings on 23rd April 2009 while representing the Delhi Daredevils. DD batted first, and while his opening partner, Gautam Gambhir, and number three player, Virendra Sehwag, got out very cheaply, AB de Villiers did not panic and played a blinder. He ended up scoring 105 runs in 54 balls at a strike rate of 194.4 without losing his wicket to help DD set a target of 190 for CSK. CSK tried their best to chase this score down and came very close, but the Delhi Daredevils managed to restrict them to 180 and won the game by nine runs.

2. 129 Against Gujarat Lions (14/05/2016)

One of the highest scores in AB de Villiers’ IPL career came in the game between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Lions on 14th May 2016. RCB batted first, and while Chris Gayle lost his wicket after scoring just six runs, AB de Villiers stepped in at number three and formed an incredible partnership with Virat Kohli. AB de Villiers managed to score 129 runs in 52 balls at a strike rate of 248.1 without losing his wicket to help RCB set a formidable target of 249 for the Gujarat Lions. GT crumbled under the pressure of such a high target, and RCB bowled them out for just 104, winning by a huge margin of 144 runs.
